375g Self-Raising Flour

1 tablespoon Caster Sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt
|
30g Butter
|
|
180ml Milk
|
about 125ml Water
|
|
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
|
Egg for glazing(optional)
|
1. Sift flour, sugar and salt into large mixing bowl, rub in butter with fingertips.
2. Use a knife to stir in mild and enough water to mix to a sticky dough.
3. Turn dough onto floured surface, knead quickly and lightly until smooth.
4. Roll dough into 2 cm thickness evenly, cut with a 5 cm round cutter.
5. Place on a greased tray, brush with a little egg for glazing.
6. Bake in oven (180C) about 15 minutes.
SIMPLE VARIATIONS
Currants : 1/2 cup dried currants added to flour mixture.
