Wanting to know a bit more about Valinor, the Istari and the main Wizards of LotR? Click on each character/place to find out a bit more about them. The Valar Istari Sauron Gandalf Saruman Radagast Pallando and Alatar Researched by Eruantane The first Valar and Maiar kingdom in the world was Almaren. The second kingdom was Valinor , the reign of the Valar in the continent of Aman. Protected on three of its sides by the huge Pelori mountains and facing the Ekkala sea on the west side, the Valar and the Maiar( Valar’s helpers) built the city of Valimar “the home of the Valar” in the center of Valinor and planted the Light Trees who iluminated the entire reign. After these trees were destroyed, the Valar created the Moon and the Sun, put them in the sky and iluminated the whole world. Valinor had huge mansions, but the most impresive was Ilmarin, the mansion of Manwe lord of the Wind and Varda king of the Stars, built on the top of Taniquetil, the highest mountain of Arda. After the destruction of Numenor and the change of the world in the Second Age of the Sun, Valinor was left unreachable for those who traveled from men lands except the magical elvish ships that could sail beyond the World Spheres.
