Maybe they should have
kept the whole thing a secret.
Just two years after their hush-hush wedding,
Brandy and hubby Robert Smith are calling it
quits.
"They are not together. They will remain friends
and raise their daughter jointly," a spokesperson
for the singer said Friday.
No reason for the breakup was given.
The sneaky couple swapped vows the summer of 2001,
but they didn't announce their domestic
arrangement until February 2002, while the R&B
singer coincidentally happened to be promoting her
album Full Moon.
A month later, the erstwhile Moesha announced she
was pregnant. Then came the MTV series that
chronicled the star through the last stages of her
pregnancy, climaxing with the birth of her baby
daughter, Sy'rai, born June 16, 2002. MTV's Diary
Presents Brandy: Special Delivery began airing two
days after the birth.
Since then, the singer has been busy changing
diapers and working on a new album with Smith, a
music producer who has worked with Michael Jackson
(news) and the Spice Girls (news - web sites).
It's about time Brandy--real name Brandy Rayana
Norwood--thought of getting back to work. Rival
Monica, who tussled with her over the
Grammy-winning, chart-topping hit "The Boy Is
Mine," scored a number-one hit last week with her
third album, After the Storm.
