Organizations The Women’s International Club There seems to be many organizations that one could write about that do work in Indonesia. One that I found extremely interesting was on the web site, (www.expat.or.id). The website itself contains a great deal of interesting information on the country of Indonesia. The Women’s International Club is an organization in which the women members represent a wide range of nationalities, American, British, Canadian, Dutch, German, Indian and Japanese. While the majority of members are Indonesian women the Women’s International Club uses an unique approach by partnering an Indonesian woman with an expatriate woman. These two women as a team continue with one project for a long time to maximize benefits to the project and also to establish close personal relationships with each other and the recipient organizations. The focus of the Women’s International Club is to provide financial or time assistance to local charities helping women and children. The expatriate volunteers come to Indonesia from their countries of origin with ideas and skills that enhance the opportunities for the Women International Club to make a real difference to the people of Indonesia and by the partnering with a local Indonesian woman the expatriate learns about the history, culture and specific needs of the local people . The partnering of expatriates and locals together allows the exchange of information between the two women that could bring about amazing cultural understanding while at the same time benefitting the less fortunate. For open-minded women wanting a more peaceful global community the Women International Club sounds like a wonderful step in the right direction.
