Solutions to Chapter 10 Questions

1. List the features of Story Editor.

2. What are the advantages of word processing in story view rather than in layout view? In story view, you are working in a text-only window. Text processing and screen redraw is faster because graphics are not available. You can also use the Spelling checker and Search and replace features, which are not available in layout view. (p. 356)

3. What can’t you do in story view? In story view, the toolbox is gray and you can only use the text processing functions. The Layout pull-down menu is not avail-able. If you were to switch to story view, you’d see the following menu options unavailable: Document Setup, Print (from File); and Expert Kerning, Indents/Tabs, Hyphenation (from Type). (p. 347)

4. What can’t you do in layout view? From the Utilities menu, Find, Find Next, Change, and Spelling. (p. 347)
