Attire

Free women are to wear robes of their caste, and have some part of the city color upon their attire, be it a belt, robe pipping or cape and cowl. Veils must be worn while in public. The only visible skin a free woman of high caste should be that between forehead and the bridge of their nose. Those of lower castes, should not display much more or be as being "provocative" with their attire. Freedom is a privilege granted to women by their men.

The Last Veil

The innermost of the five veils worn by free women. It is worn under the citizen veil and is often very sheer. Also known as the "privacy veil" or "modesty veil." It is worn in all places except within the private chambers of the freewoman.

Citizen Veil

The second of the veils worn by free women. It is worn under the pride veil and over the last veil; it is worn by a free woman when she leaves her chambers for any reason. The right to wear this veil at all times is guaranteed to all freewomen upon attaining their majority and pledging citizenship. To strip this veil from a citizen of your own Home Stone is considered a violation of basic Gorean law. The city colors are blue, green and black.

The Pride Veil

The third veil worn by free women. It is worn under the house veil and over the citizen veil. This veil is worn when a freewoman is in her house. Unlike the last veil and veil of the citizeness, this veil is completely opaque and provides true concealment of her features.

The House Veil

The next-to-last veil worn by free women, especially when in the company of men not of her own family. It is worn over the pride veil, and under the street veil upon leaving the house. When guests are within the walls of her house or when the freewoman is in the company of anyone who is not of her household, she wears this veil at all times.

The Street Veil

The outermost veil worn by free women. Worn over the house veil when leaving the house. Typically a heavy, fitted face-covering of thick brocaded or quilted cloth. This veil is equipped with numerous pins and fastening devices.

"The women of rence growers, when in their own marshes, do not veil themselves, as is common amongst Gorean women, particularly of the cities"
Raiders of Gor,pg. 18

"In some cities an unveiled free woman is susceptible to being taken into custody by guardsmen, veiled, by force if necessary, and publicly conducted back to her home... Repeated offenses in such a city usually result in the enslavement of the female."
Players of Gor,pg. 125

Weapons

Free women are required to know how to use an ost tipped pin and quiva at the minimum. Whether they are allowed to carry such is the choice of their companion or guardian. Dice information for free women is located in the city guidelines for the RRaMC.

Pregnancy

If a free woman becomes "with child" and is not joined, then at the end of her pregnancy, the child will be taken and enslaved. This is to prevent free women from becoming pregnant without a mate. The free woamn cannot be put under collar for becoming pregnant provided it was due to circumstances not of her choosing.

Guards

Free women are to be escorted by guards at all times outside their house walls if they are of high caste. They should have little fear of their safety in their walled gardens, public marketplaces [except the street of brands], open caste halls, city buildings or locations where they have legitimate business, their own house, and the public rooms of the houses of the city. Free women should be cautious when in a place normally considered the domain of men. Free women in taverns are subject to a lower tolerance of their behavior by the men and the Administrator will generally respect this bastion of the men. Free women entering a paga den are already slaves, unless taken there by force or through deception or visually impaired. Visually impaired women will be warned once by the owner or master of the den to leave.

Conduct

Free women should take care in disciplining the slave and should be aware of the following:

Punishments

Free women whose behavior incurs the wrath of a free man may be subjected to any of the following:
