Public Announcements
A Free man has the right to announce publicly his courtship to any free woman of the City, with the guardian's permission. A guardian may sign a contract of companionship on his wards behalf.
Contracts
Contracts are required for all companionships and must be recorded with the city.
Records
A record shall be kept of all free companionships, births, registered houses, registered people, by the City Scribe.
Terms
In the case of one-year companionships, there will be no dissolution of the companionship except by enslavement or death of one of the companions prior to the end of the companionship term.
In the case of lifetime companionships where the two have sworn by blood oath, there shall be dissolution only in the following circumstances:
Death of one of the companions.
Writ of dissolution granted by the Initiates.
A Writ of Dissolution may also be granted by the Administrator for:
Adultery committed by one of the companions with another free person. Women that are in punishment or debtor's collar would be considered as slaves for the purpose of this statue.
Disappearance of one of the companions for more than one and a half years (four and 1/2 mun months) without contact or word.
Collars
Male companions that are Warriors have absolute right to collar their companions. However, this action is subject to caste discipline. With rare exception, all warriors exercising this right will be forbid to companion for 5 passings by order of the Administrator. Mating with a free woman under promises to companion when under the authority of this statue is considered deception and will open the warrior to charges of rape.
