WELCOME TO THE SWEETEST DAY
~*OCTOBER 18TH*~!!
I ended up in the hospital on October 17th, 2002 to be
induced due to high blood pressure or Hypertention, basically
the same thing; my blood pressure was exactly
196/116 - NOT GOOD @ all. It was scary,
they started me on Patosin to get
me to start dialating (I was already dialated about 1.5 centimeters)
and they had to break my water for me as well.
A few hours passed nothing was happening,
I dialated a few more but
nothing dramatic, in the
meantime my sister, Amoreena & her then fiance now husband, Karl,
came to see us; it just happened to be her, Amoreena's, Birthday!
Happy Birthday to you Aunt Ami!!!
I started to have labor pains in my back,
which was very uncomfortable and
then came the drugs - needless to say I slept for awhile til,
basically I was told that we were going to have a c-section
birth b/c I wasn't dialating fast enough and somehow
Alexis had got her elbow and head stuck in my
pelvic area, and she couldn't come out like that, and
now she was in distress; it got real serious real fast.
I was given an epidural (oh my God, the needle and drip
feed was terrifying to look @) and before you know it
we are rushed into the room to have the baby!!!
Hours have passed by and now its October 18th, 2002!
I'll tell you this experience was one of a kind...
We get in there and I can't feel a thing,
but I am awake and can see, but of course they have the
sheet up so I can't look and see whats going on,
but I do remember asking to doctor to make the cut as
small as he possibly can! So here is the doctor getting
Alexis and somehow when the nurse sticks the sucker
thing into Lexi's mouth to get out the blood, she squirts
it in the eye of another nurse who doesnt have goggles on and she
is going nuts now, and she, Alexis, comes out with the umbilical
cord wrapped around her neck, not breathing, and
blue colored; meanwhile I'm throwing up and
can't catch my breath; Jeremy is getting up to see
what is wrong with the baby and the nurses and Doctor
tell him to sit back down (he is seated right next to
my head); the nurses all gather around Lexi and get
her breathing, THANK GOD, and they perform the
first APGAR test, she only scored a 3. Then they do what
they need to clean her off and get her ready for her
next test, on the second APGAR test she got a 9, so
we knew then that she was going to be fine!!!
Jeremy is over there with Alexis now taking pictures,
and probably crying too,
while I'm about passed out and my Doctor is trying
to get me all fixed back up and he has to stpe away
for a minute, he is feeling woosy and almost passes
out too, and Jeremy is asking what in the world is
wrong with him, and the nurses say "He is ok, he
always does this, give him a second
and he'll be fine!!" Can you believe this???
Here I am laying on this table with my guts having out waiting
to be put back together and my Doctor NEEDS A MINUTE!!!
Anyhow, while I'm finally getting fixed up, they weigh &
measure Alexis and all kinds of other things!
She was 18.5 inches and weighed 6 pounds 12 ounces.
I certainly weigh more
then that sweet little Alexis!!!
I have to be honest, I really can't remember too much after that,
I'm not sure if they brought Alexis in to us to have a look or
if I slept first, but either way, when I got my first look
@ Alexis, I can't explain how happy I was! She was and is
the most precious and beautiful thing in my life!

thinking how in the world could this be the "Sweetest Day" and
not the "Terrifying Few Days", but ironically, because
of all madness and scary things that happened; thats
what makes this day so special to us; Alexis is our Heart and our Love!!!
