New Walmart Supercenter

As many of you already know and if you don't, God help you, we have a new Wal-Mart Supercenter in our little town of Warrenton. The second-largest one to be exact. But before I talk about our new Wal-Mart I'm going to take you back to 1962, when the first Wal-Mart was built by one dreamer named Sam Walton. Sam Walton's dream was simple: Give people high value, low prices and a warm welcome. And that's exactly what he did by creating Wal-Mart, a place for the family. In 1962 Sam Walton built the first ever Wal-Mart in Bentonville, Arkansas. That's where it all started, it branched out to all of America including Warrenton. The new Wal-Mart Supercenter opened on July 21, 2004, a date that every man, woman, and child of this time will remember forever. The opening ceremony was wonderful even with the line of protesters which were mainly people from IGA, which was forced to close with the opening of the Wal-Mart. So, some sad things did come with the new store. They have already demolished old one and left the new one in the middle of and open plain, making it look even bigger than it already was. Many people say that it has been a big convenience even though it was hard to get used to the new layout...I still can't find the noodles in the new Food Center. Ahh, the Food Center, personally my favorite part. A big selection of brand names with a cheap price. The first time I was there I used to the Self-Check registers. It was easy this time because I only had a few items. The next time I went I had a whole cart full and we found out that if you bump the machine near the bagging area you will have to go get the clerk and have her clear the machine of saying that you tried to steal something. But otherwise the new additions like the Food Center, Vision Center, Cafe, and Salon are a big asset to the Warrenton Community.
