Philosophies

Our philosophies concerning horses are not your standard ones. We believe all horses are deserving of respect, but at the same time should not be allowed to impose their will on a human. The only whips allowed are for lunging, show, and when deemed necessary by Kate. Stalls are expected to be kept clean, with fresh hay and water kept in them constantly, and all horses groomed at least once a day. No horse is expected to spend more then a day inside its stall without being turned out.

Horses that are being trained are taught slowly, with a large amount of repetition, and are assigned equine teachers as well as a human teacher. Equine teachers are responsible for ponying the trainees and demonstrating to the horse in training what is expected of it. This program has worked remarkably well so far.

Beginning riders are required to wear a helmet at all times, and all riders are required to wear one when riding. Riders are only advanced by approval of Kate, and only when they have passed a test demonstrating knowledge of their skills. They are expected to be courteous at all times, to humans, horses, and other animals around the stable.
