Boarding

Part of our income is boarders. As a result, we do our best to provide the ideal boarding barn. We guarantee that we will have prices that are the same or lower then our competitors.

All boarders are expected to abide by the following rules.

1. Do not use property unless it belongs to you or has been marked as OK for boarder use by SLNS (this is indicated by the absence or presence of a blue dot on the item. Wagons, blankets, and grooming equipment are all automatically no use).

2. Boarders are free to host shows, however, Kate needs to know and OK it first.

3. Checks must be sent in by the first of the month. If they are not, you will be given notice and if you have not replied by the 15th, we reserve the right to sell your horses.

4. If your horse has a special need (i.e. on medication, on a supplement), please let Kate know.

5. Boarders must obey all Hay! rules. If they do not, they will be evicted and their horses sold.

6. No whips, with the exception of lunge whips and whips for show only, are allowed on premises unless Kate has agreed that the situation requires one.

7. Horse abuse is not tolerated.

8. Veterinary and farrier work is required every three months. By requesting it, Kate will arrange these for you. However, if you do not request it, you will be responsible for finding your own vet and farrier.

Boarders are allowed free access to SLNS property, including trails, roundpens, arenas, and the wash stalls. They are also given one free lesson a month. However, SLNS has over 40 horses of its own, so we request that you be considerate of the riders working for SLNS. If possible, exercise your horse in the afternoon.

SLNS does not provide transportation to shows.

All boarders are given lockers in the tack room in which they may store a saddle and bridle. To prevent theft, please use them. While our facilities are secure, placing them somewhere other than the assigned locker may lead someone to accidentally use them, which would cause a larger panic then would be required. Boarders are also given an equipment locker to store anything else in. Additional lockers to use are available upon request. Personal effects may be stored in the cubbies next to the office.

Horses are given top quality alfalfa hay grown by SLNS, and stalls have sawdust bedding.
