Hope & Ginger

Meet Ginger & her family

My husband Andrew and I adopted Ginger on November 27, 2000. She had been rescued from a puppy mill in Missouri and had been in foster care for almost exactly a year; her foster moms were Judy Hill and Lisa Bakalars. I saw Ginger's picture on the PCA webpage and couldn't get her out of my mind. Andrew says that I knew she was my dog the minute I saw her. There was so much misery and fear in her big brown eyes - all I wanted to do was give her a home, a forever mom and dad, and all the love in the world. I knew I couldn't rest until that awful look in her eyes had gone away. We already had a two-year-old Pap from a breeder, little Hope, and even though she's spoiled rotten we felt like she would be a wonderful sister to Ginger. Hope is so friendly and happy - she really does think that life is a great big birthday party, and she's the guest of honor every day! Things have worked out beautifully for all concerned - most of all, for Ginger. She was so scared and timid and shy when she came to live with us. Relying on Lisa's advice and guidance, we let Ginger take things at her own pace, always there with plenty of love and encouragement, and once she started making progress her confidence grew by leaps and bounds. We were right about Hope - she never showed any jealousy at all, and they have become sweet, loving sisters. Andrew and I are very grateful for the privilege of helping Ginger learn to love and be loved, and to really enjoy her life with us and with Hope.
