Houdini

Houdini's Story

Born in May, 1997, Houdini was sold as a pup to a couple with a small son. They also had a young female and planned to breed. The child was allowed to manhandle the dogs and the husband was also not what you would call gentle. The couple divorced about a year later and the woman moved to Northern California. She left both dogs with a member of one of the Pap lists, supposedly for a month at the most, in order to find a place to live that would allow the Paps...She never came back.

That ended up being a good thing as they did not take appropriate care of them, they were malnourished, flea infested, and obviously from their demeanor, had been abused. The woman who had them finally contacted Stephanie Jackson, AN ANGEL ON EARTH!, through PCA Rescue. This woman said she would keep the female, but could not deal with Houdini as he was too rambunctious and uncontrollable. (I would too if I had spend most of my life in a cage!)

Stephanie became Houdini's foster Mom in October, 1999. He had dew claws on both back legs that prevented him from running or even walking correctly. She had them removed at the same time he was neutered. He was a scared, rebellious little boy, but with Stephanie's love and expertise, he became a sweet, well behaved gentleman.

After many emails and phone conversations between Stephanie and myself, in March of 1999, my husband, Richard, and I drove up and spent 3 days so Houdini could get to know us. For Houdini and I, it was love at first sight and he came home to Southern California with us!

He is my precious boy, my best friend and I cannot imagine life without him. I was hospitalized last year for 63 days and his love helped bring me back.

Awwww Mom, you know I don't like broccoli!!!
