This page is a how to on making the powdered non-
combustable form of incense. In order for this
incense to burn you need a heat proof dish and a piece
of coal. The process of making the incense
is simple. You pick the dried herbs, soft stones, or
essential oils that you wish to
use, and you can use a stone or wood mortar to grind
them (also keep in mind to visualize the purpose and
working of the herb as you crush them), or if you
don't have one of these available, just cut them up as
small as possible (stones can be wrapped in a
papertowel and hit with a hammer). Light the coal
and let it burn until it becomes red and the edges are
gray and ashen. Put a pinch or two of the herbs on the
coal and let it burn, be careful not to put too much
on the coal or it will go out. See..simple..so just
enjoy.. Now the hard part is figuring out which herbs
to use. There are some herbs that are toxic to use.
Below I have listed some of the more common herbs used
as incense and their properties, along with some that
are toxic. I have learned from experience that if you
can't afford it, or just down right don't have it, you
can substitute it with a similiar smelling herb or one
that has the same purpose for your working. If you are
in doubt of the toxicity, you can either subsitute
with tobacco or just leave well enough alone. I cannot
stress that enough, it isn't worth risking your health
or the health of others. If you are using these herbs
for any purpose to cause harm to others, I will not
responsible for the outcome of your stupidity. The
Toxic herb list is there only for the purpose of
knowledge, not for use.

Herbs

This is just a small list of the herbs you can use for
your incense, you can find them in your local
herbstore, your grocery store or even your back yard.
Remember if you are unsure of a certian plant, either
ask someone that would know or leave well enough
alone, I will not be held responsible for another
persons negligence.
