HORSE AND TENOR, CONCERT AT THE CORRAL

Pictures from the show. There are four photo album pages of pictures!

Nathan Granner, American Tenor and Sony recording artist, performed as Master of Ceremonies for the horse spectacular and performed along with Beau Bledsoe, classical guitarist, for the last half of the show.

Nathan sang in the barns of Wolf Trap National Performing Arts park in Washington DC several years ago, but horses has been out of those barns for years. Never did the idea of singing in a real barn occur to Nathan until his mother mentioned the possibility.

October 2, 2005, Nathan was back in an arena barn giving a concert. Unlike the spit and polish Barns of Wolf Trap, this arena has real dirt and real horses!

Nathan's mother, Susan Engle, has been performing in arenas with her horse, Velvet, for a number of years and long wanted to perform with Nathan. Having to perform in an arena limited her location options! Fortunately, the Pine Dell Stable owners, boarders and visitors are big fans of Nathan and have long wanted to hear him perform locally. Thus, the idea of a Concert in a Corral was born!

The horses were the first performers. Two different "horse acts" occurred during the first half of the concert. Before the show started, Jenny and Tony Vaught's children, Nichole and Caitlyn, entertained the crowd with their ponies, Wizard and Pumpkin, . The audience was enthralled by the Horse Play and no one yelled at the girls to stop the "horse play"! Things are different with horses at Pine Dell Farm!

Nathan started out the show singing The Star Spangled Banner. Nichole Copple and Christine Richardson on their horses carried the flag. The audience was stunned into silence and then exploded in a clapping frenzy a few moments after Nathan ended the song on an impossible high note. This rendition of the Star Spangled Banner is worth the cost of this DVD by its self!

Concert in a Corral Horse Show started with Granner's mother, Susan Engle, riding her famous Missouri Fox Trotting horse, Velvet. Susan and Velvet have performed during horse shows, at The Kentucky Horse Park, Equitana and the Missouri Equine Celebration. In addition, Velvet has performed with Jenny and Caitlyn in front of large crowds at many Parelli horse events. Velvet has performed for aproximately 15,000 people! Velvet loves the crowds!

Nathan read the humorous script as Engle and Velvet performed Extreme Versitility, a bridleless routine showing reining, jumping, dressage and soccer. Soccer? Yes, soccer!

Stephanie Moore, an advanced natural horsemanship student, was in attendence to help Nathan with technical aspects of the performance.

Nathan's script reading and ad libbing made this act very very much fun to watch!

Next were Jennifer and her daughter Nichole. Jennifer is a Three Star Parelli Natural Horsemanship Instructor and Horse Specialist. Jennifer gives lessons and clinics at Pine Dell in addition to training horses. Nichole at only ten years of age, is working on the advanced level 3 in the Parelli Natural Horsemanship program.

Nichole and Jennifer performed with their horses, both on the ground and riding to Ethel Merman singing "Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better." Note: That song is included on The American Tenor CD track with the three American tenors!

Nichole or Jenny did something very cool with their horse challenging the other to do it better. They did amazing things with their horses!

The Tenor Portion of the Entertainment was next. In fact, Nathan came into the arena riding Velvet and singing! He was wearing a red cowboy hat that went with his cowboy attire. He even got Velvet to speed up a bit.

Nathan dismounted and advanced to the podium. You've not lived until you hear a classically trained tenor sing, "Friends in Low Places!" Of course this got a huge applause from the "western" audience!

Nathan Granner, with Beau Bledsoe, classical guitarist, performed old favorites and new songs. The music was a mixture of opera, show tunes, flamenco, spiritual and Americana music.

Nathan Granner's old school timbre and natural abilities are distinctive and rare. His voice combines a buoyant tone, compelling vibrato, clean diction and a resonant timbre. Mix those qualities together with his exuberant, daring character and one understands why Tenor Nathan Granner makes a captivating figure on any stage, and in every performance.

Nathan and Beau have recorded two CD's.

Order this DVD from Susan Engle, Nathan's mother. All proceeds are divided between Granner and the Vaught family. Nathan and Beau's two CDs also can be ordered along with the DVD. Shipping is free when you order the CDs or the DVDs from Susan!
