Born as Elijah Jordan Wood on January 28th 1981, Elijah, or more commonly known as 'Lij' was a little ball of energy from the start. His parents called him 'Spark-plug', he was so energetic! "I used to climb on everything," Elijah says. "I was always causing trouble." When little Elijah was in Kindergarten, his mother, Deborah, enrolled him in a local talent/modeling school, hoping to find an outlet for his energy. It seemed to work, and six months later, he visited L.A. and got signed with an agent. He appeared in some commercials and TV spots. Sensing Elijah had enough talent to make it in Hollywood, his mother packed up and moved to LA with Elijah and his older brother, Zach. His father, Warren, and sister, Hannah, followed later.

Elijah got his start in film when he appeared in "Back to the Future II" for a brief speaking role. After a couple more small roles, he got a considerable part in "Child in the Night". After that, things just kept getting bigger.

Elijah began getting lead-child parts in films like Paradise, Avalon, Radio Flyer, and more. Hailed as one of Hollywood's most gifted child-actors, he got even more parts, and it wasn't long before teen magazines snatched him up as "Big Blue Eyes". Elijah continued making films, doing his schoolwork onset, and avoiding regular High School alltogether.

It was in 1998, while filming "The Faculty" when he heard about Lord of the Rings. Knowing this was the chance of a lifetime, he filmed his own audition tape and sent it in to New Line. He was cast soon after. The rest, is furry footed history, really. Making some of the best friends of his life onset and doing crazy things while filming (getting a tatoo, surfing), he came away proclaiming it was a lifechanging experience. Shot fully into the spotlight, Elijah Wood reached the level of stardom most actors dream about. Strangers call him Frodo, he is recognized wherever he goes.

He was a child actor. He's not on drugs, hasn't been in therapy, and keeps on smiling. Unlike other young actors, he is obsessed with music, knows how to express himself verbally, and seems to be one of the nicest people anyone could ever meet. Who'd a thought that little Spaz would have become one of Hollywood's most aclaimed and talented actors?
