EXPANDING THE VISUALIZATION

Now picture an opening: a natural doorway such as a hole in the ground or the mouth of a cave. This will lead you to the sacred space you seek. When you pass through, pay attention to details that will make the place seem more real. Utilize all your senses to give the place solidity. This is tricky to achieve at first, but with a little practice it will get easier.

Expand your senses. Touch trees and feel the texture of the bark; sit on a rock and feel its durface..is it smooth or rough? Feel the warmth of the sun as you walk through the place. What is beneath your feet? Grass, sand, a path? Pause to smell the delicate fragrance of a flower, the bloom redolent with its essence of attraction. Look into it and notice how bright the colours are and how the petals and stamens are arranged. Hear the birdsong and the sighing of the wind. Sit down by a stream, taste the refreshing coolness of the water and absorb the beauty and peace around you.

When you feel it is time to leave, give thanks and promise to return. Retrace your steps through the entrance, back into your physical body. Come slowly back to this world.
