THE POWER of PLACE

Celebrate the power of place by visiting an ancient spiritual site, or by creating your own personal power place..for example, in the yard, in your home, or in a park. The most powerful occasions are the eight solar festivals of the Celtic year, and the new and full moons; the most potent times of the day are dawn and dusk.


1. Approach the site on foot, concentrating on the spiritual journey through life.

2. Make the final appraoch, especially to circular sites, walking in a clockwise or "sunwise" direction, in keeping with the natural order of the cosmos.

3. Sit, relax, and focus on your breathing. Leave behind the modern world and your personal affairs, and concentrate on the natural world.

4. Leave an offering at the site, such as a pinch of herbs or a small crystal.

NOTE: Herbs and crystals can be used ritually at sacred sites as a token of thanks to the spirits of the place for giving inspiration and guidance.
