Somewhere In Time

Title of Your Page

Jacqueline’s Junque

Somewhere in time...
you said we were perfect!
That described how I felt.
I should have known then,
that nothing is ever so right
for so very long.
But each time you said it,
I believed it even more.

There was an enthusiasm about you
when you spoke about "us".
As if it were a surprise to you
how we blended together.
We both brought parts of ourselves
we had never shared
with another living soul...
to form our unique bond.

Somewhere in time...
you said you were proud of me.
It seemed so important,
because pride was an emotion
you reserved only for your family.
Maybe you don't recall...
but I know I beamed
for days afterward.

Then there was the love....
overflowing after being ignored,
rejected and left to waste away.
We rekindled that fire
and became alive again,
basking in the nuturing affection
of the other one,
who too, had starved for so long.

I was a afraid to trust.
That fear stemmed
from a heart that had been so broken,
it vowed never to trust again.
You coaxed me...
to open up without fear,
explaining that real love didn't hurt,
until finally, I believed you.

Promises were made...
mine came from deep within,
and I had never meant anything more.
I would have done
just about anything you asked.
I think you knew that,
but you never asked for much,
simply taking what little there was
and enjoying that moment.
I tried not to ask
for more than you could give.
Sometimes I failed.

Over time....
our relationship has changed;
growing into something so warm,
so comforting, yet strangely intimate.
We often keep each other smiling,
even in the face of troubles,
trying hard to help soothe the wounds
this life may hand us.

Somewhere in time....
a perfect time of just us,
with the world kept at bay,
we etched our names
deep inside eachother's hearts
and there they shall remain,
until at last
there is no more time.
