These four colors are from the image above.
All of the colors above were used to make the 100 x 100 gradient as well as two 39 x 199 ones.
I liked the strip better as the square repeated the dark color too many times for my taste. I also did not like the strip with the dark color ends, so I made another one with the light colors on the ends. I made a horizontal 50 angle strip and liked the ruffled or pleated top edge with shadows but the line you mentioned with two different colors tiling on the ends was not good. I tried a gausain blur on the strip but that only took away the shiny gold effect.
I made 100 x 100 tiles for each of the four shades but did not use the gray one.


My background tile was made with PSP 8 Smearing Gold pattern, Eye Candy swirl, and PSP 8 Straw Wall texture, in that order. Background tile was also used to make the picture frame on the composite graphic.
