Environmental issues
Topic: Protecting the Environme
Barbadians need to plant more trees along the streets. This would have the effect of creatng acool envirnment in whcih to walk on some of our warm days. It could also encourage more people to walk.
The effect of more people walking would result in less cars on the road, less pollution in the atmosphere, and encouraging people to exercise. With less cars on our roads.

Protecting the Environment and encouraging people to cut down on green house gases
One of the ways we can protect our environment is by planting more trees along the streets. They will remove carbon dioxide from the air and provide oxygen. Trees also remove other pollutants from the atmosphere and make the air clean.
These days are warm and having trees planted at the side of streets will provide a cool path along which to walk. This could also encourage people to walk and leave their motor cars at home.
There are health benefits to gain from this strategy. More people walking to work on mornings will mean a healthier society less motor cars on road cutting down on noise pollution and reduce incudents of asthma.

Protecting yourself and the environment.
We can do many things to help protect the environment, For many years it`has known that plants provide A protective shield for man against various dangers.
Recently I made a discovery that could help people and the natural environment.`Instead of using pesticides to drive off certain insects from biting you and destroying your crop we can instead start using certain herbal smells which the insects do not like to smell. This action taken on a global global level will go a long way in reducing health risk annd protecting the natural environment.

At the just concluded conference of the G8 nations in Scotland the leaders resolved that appropriate actions should be taken to reduce the level of green house gases entering the earth's atmosphere and contributing to global warming.
I believe that one of the things that we can do right here in Barbaados is to plant more trees along bith sides of the public roads.
This measure will contribute to cleaning the air, it will also provide shade for pedestrians, contribute to cool conditions for motorists, and provide home for birds to nest.
This measure will contribute to the ongoing effort the world community is making to reduce the level of green house gases.

As the United States of America celebrates its independence today , one remembers the father of American independence George Washington, who served two terms from 1778-1797. He was also the first president of the United States.
George Washington also shares some history with Barbados. It is reported that Barbados is the only ccountry outside of the USA that Washington ever visited.
The house where Washington stayed has been preserved over the years and bears his name.It is located under two miles outside of Bridgetown on Bushhill, St. Michael just a stone throw from the Garrison Savanah.

Environmental issuues are at the top of the list of most countries these days and it is important that every country get on board and take the type of corrective action now to save the planet for future generations.
What actions can we take to prevent diaster in the future?
Every country has to do an environmental assessment and then come up with stratigies to tackle the issues.
Reducing the levels of pollutants in the atmosphere from motor vehicles is one of the problems that most countries face but more people are buying motor cars today than ever in our history which is a sign of prosperity. Then the focus might be for governments to set standards for the amount of pollutants that vehicles will be allowed to put into the atmosphere and each year before it issues a licence to allow a vehicle to be driven on the public road, it measures the levels of pollutants each motor vehicle is producing to ensure only vehicles meeting the standard are allowed on public road.

The Price of a barrel of crude oil on the World market broke the US $60.00 barrier today the 28th June 2005.
This has a lot of implications for Barbadian people. The continuous rise in crude oil prices has meant higher energy charges for consumers by way of higher gasolene charges and food prices.
One of the ways out this dilemma is to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels.
Some suggestions is to use manual tools instead of gasolene powered tools, use sail boats and boats powered by oars to transport commuters, introduce electric trains and buses.
Encourage people to walk and ride bicycles. Provide more walking and bicycle paths.
Encourage people to live in the city areas by building more highrise accommodation.
These are small measures that can reduce or reliance on the use of fossil fuels.
