Week 1 -
Chiefs 27 - SanDiego Chargers 14 - Home
WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO!!..:)) We do have a defense this year!!!! And the Offense was pretty awsome too...:)) What hip injury??...lol I think everyone got a piece of the action today... except for the Chargers... they didn't really show till the second half... and then we were just being the gracious hosts...:) That was one of the BEST first half's I've seen... and WE were on the right end this time. Bring on the Steelers!
|
Week 2 -
Chiefs 41 - Pittsburgh Steelers 20 - Home
Well it's a nice feeling knowing that you can make a few mistakes on offense and it's not the end of the world. The Defense came thru again!!! I know... 41 points...lol... but things started a bit scarey... Green's first pass was a TD for Steelers...:)) Aside from a few "big plays" the Steelers really didn't do much. The Chiefs, on the other hand, gave it to 'em from all sides--- offense (Holmes--over 100 yards rushing and 3 TD's) Defense (Woods--first career INT for a TD) and Special Teams (Dante--100 yard kickoff return TD) Now we must leave the comfy confines of Arrowhead... we go to Houston... :)) GoChiefs!!!
|
Week 3 -
Chiefs 42 - Houston Texans 14 - Away
Another GREAT game where all phases show up and contribute!! The first half was competative, but we took it to them pretty good in the third quarter... I feel really bad about that....:)) Priest and Dante were the leaders again... Trent and Tony did their part too! The Ravens are next... they should give us a better test. But still no problem...lol
|
Week 4 -
Chiefs 17 - Baltimore Revens 10 - Away
A little closer than I like... but good to get the heart pumping on occasion...:)) Thank you Dante and the special teams!!! Oh, I guess the defense deserves some kudos... they did keep Jamal Lewis in check. And get an interception everytime the Ravens got close...:) Not a spectacular show from the offence (especially in the 2nd half).. but enough... and a win is a win!!
|
Week 5 - Chiefs 24 - Denver Broncos 23 - Home A whole bunch closer than I like...:)) Thank you Dante and the special teams!!! The defense was on the field too much and was really tired, but they reached back and gave it up when it was needed most!! Offense was a little off again, but did what we needed to get the important WIN! Good to see Tony in the game with some great catches again!!
|
Week 6 -
Chiefs 40 - Green Bay Packers 34 - Away
WOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOO !!! OMG... Can you believe this one?...:)) An overtime win at Lambeau... unbelievable!! Although we didn't look so good at times, there were other times we looked GREAT! Especially at the end... when it counted most...:) I am not one to give up on a game...ever... but I must admit that at the start of the 4th quarter, I was working to convince myself that a loss wouldn't so terrible. (you know, it beng a non-conference game and on the road).. But Trent would not have it... LOL I'm still kinda in shock... 17 points down in the 4th qtr at Lambeau... and we WIN the game. How long before they stop saying we are lucky? I prefer to go with the theory that the good teams find a way to win!! ...:))
|
Week 7 -
Chiefs 17 - Oakland Raiders 10 - Away
7 - 0 ... BABY!!! Really not the most exciting Chiefs/Raider game... until the final 2 minutes... But that is not really unusual ...lol! Kinda like the old chiefs... Trent, Tony G and Priest all had good games... Boeriter come up big on several Special teams plays. ... Which is a good thing since they seem to be scared of Dante...:))... I suppose I should give mention to Baker for a good punting game.... Rich and his boys just don't look hungry any more... like they need a nap... It was late for the ol guys... :)) Go Chiefs!!!
Week 8 - Chiefs 38 - Buffalo
Bills 5 - Home Now that is the kind of game I like... A bunch of scoring for us and not so much for them!!! I really think thay can now retire that "lucky" from our intros. I think the guys officially showed the nation they are for real! And if they aren't man enough tho kick it to Dante... well we will just throw it to him... and still hurt 'em...:)) There were too many great plays to mention... but how about the block by Trent for Priest's final TD? ... Just unbelievable! Priest did have three touchdowns. And the defense had 7 (that's seven) takeaways!! Two fumble recoveries and 5 interceptions...lol How fun was that? :)) (I think all the Warfield bashers can take a week or so off... he was awsome..) Trent had zero INT's and the Chiefs has zero fumbles!! I think we done good... Dick gave the guys the week off for the bye... and they will be back Monday to get ready for win #9! :)
|
8 - 0 BABY!!! Need I say more? It's been fun so far... Now we (the players and the fans) take a week off to rest... only to do it all again in the second half!!!! GoChiefs!!!
Week 10 -Chiefs 41 - Cleveland Browns 20 -
Home Well we played a darn good game today..:)) On paper it looked like a walk in the park... but that's why they play the games... they are never that easy... I am soooo impressed with Trent Green... the second game in a row where he seemed unflappable. Beautiful tosses to Morton, Kennison, and Tony G!!! And of course the guys made beautiful catches too... but Trent was "on the money"... and how close did Dante come to history? One missed block... he had it made...lol 9 - 0! Wow do you believe it? and I know you're only supposed to look at one game at a time... but Cinnci, Oakland and the Chargers... come on?? lol Actually I do have some concerns about the Bengals game next week... on the road... not that we shouldn't win... but it's gotta happen some time doesn't it?? Or does it??? :)) GO Chiefs!!!
|
Week 11 -
Chiefs 19 - Cincinnati Bengals 24 - Away
OOOOPS!! This one was not so pretty...:( They had their moments... but not enough of them. That defensive magic just wasn't there. and aren't football players supposed to fall down when they get tackled? We did... why didn't they? lol... Gotta work on that tackling thing!! I honestly, right up until the very end, thought we were going to do it ... but it just wasn't our day. Dropped balls and missed tackles won't win you many games. Ok... enough whining already...:) It's time to move on... get all that history making crap out of the way... and lets get back to football!! After all... It's Raider Week! And "10 and 1" aint so bad now is it?!! GO Chiefs!!!
|
Week 12 -Chiefs 27 - Oakland Raiders 24 -
Home ... Brrrrrrrr it sure was cold out there...:0) What is it about the Raiders anyway? It doesn't matter what the records are... it's always a fight. Granted we didn't do our job.. (TACKLE boys!!) as we know how... but we almost let a 3-7 team beat us. But, let me stress the ALMOST in that last phrase... WE got the win... and in the NFL that's all the matters... and we got it...LOL Anderson's kick was a wobbley one in the wind... but it was GOOOOD! Now we need to put 4 quarters together for a complete game victory (like at the first of the season)... The Chargers should make good practice for that...:))
|
Week 13 -
Chiefs 28 - SanDiego Chargers 24 - Away
Well... I think we had to work harder than practice...:)) We should have taken better care of them... But it wasn't as close as the score indicates. Chargers got a last second TD for good measure. Priest Holmes was magnificent!! Trent has some super throws and a couple picks (but he was jinxed by a story in the paper..lol) Johnny Morton really showed up this week... good thing...:) I was expecting more... but I'll take what I can get... :))
|
Week 14 -
Chiefs 27 - Denver Broncos 45 - Away Now if someone told you Trent Green would throw for 400 yards, wouldn't you think a win would be in order? What exactly do the Chiefs do at half time? lol They play like a complete diferent team after the break. *Kudos to Clinton Portis!* I could point out a dropped pass here and/or a missed tackle there... but when you give up 45 points, and are outscored by 17... well it's just a loss... ya put your mark in the right hand column and you move on... We did clinch a playoff berth... but still have work to do... 14-2 isn't out of the question... And it all starts NOW! GO CHIEFS!!!
|
Week 15 -
Chiefs 45 - Detroit Lions 17 - Home Trent, Tony and Priest... need I say more? It's a good time to get back on track... play all 4 quarters and score a bunch of points...:)) Still no defense tho... but lets not talk about that...lol Trent Green was perfect!... according to the quarterback rating thing anyway... WOW, he sure looked good. It helpes to have Tony there to make those super catches. And Priest to slide on into the end zone. This was a fun one...:)) GO CHIEFS!!!
|
Week 16 -
Chiefs 20 - Minnesota Vikings 45 - Away
Ugly...UGLY... UGLY... There are no other words to describe that game... I don't even want to talk about it...:)) Although the Vikings defensive players are allowed to play on a field much wider than the other NFL teams... that one play can't be to blame for the entire game... (even thought it killed any momentum we could have hoped to achieve.) We just stunk! lol Seven players from the Offense were named to the ProBowl this week... but you would never have guessed that today...:( It did look like we may get back in it... then the Vikes reel off two quick big scoring plays... and that was it... Congrats to Priest holmes for tying the NFL "most rushing TD's in a season" record @ 25 with his three TD's today!!! And of course, Congrats to the ProBowl selections... Trent Green, Tony Gonzalez, Priest Holmes, Tony Richardson, Dante Hall, Will Shields, Willie Roaf, and Jerome Woods (the lone defender).
|
Week 17 -
Chiefs 31 = Chicago Bears 3 - Home Now thats what I'm talkin about!!!... A little bounce in the step of the defense... And the All Star offense there at the ready! Credits were shared by all... With all time NFL TD records going to Priest Holmes... Congrats!!!! Now it's on tho the playoffs... with a first round bye, we have a couple weeks to get ready for a big game at arrowhead. (Where we have won 13 games in a row).
GO CHIEFS!!!
|
The Playoffs -
Chiefs 31 vs Colts 38 - Home
Well, quite simply we lost...:(( The most crucial and important play in this game was the coin toss... the team who gets the ball first scores first, making the other team play catchup all day! There were no punts in this game, by either team... which indicates neither team had much defense... Or, was it that both teams had GREAT Offenses? I think it was a combination of both... With the edge to the Colts, as they had a little defense and the Chiefs had none... Both teams easily ran and passed up and down the field ... the difference being, The Chiefs made two slips... one drive ended in a fumble and another drive a missed fieldgoal. I don't want to, but I have to give kudos galore to Payton Manning... he was not ruffled by Arrowhead one little bit... He just went about his business like it was no big deal. Trent Green had a super game too, but he was supposed to, he was at home and we were quiet for him...lol Ok... lets see... good things about this game... The weather was fantastic.... As mentioned before, Greene was "on"... Priest Holmes ran for well over 100 yards and had over 200 total yards... Dante Hall ran back a kickoff for a touchdown and had other key offensive plays... Kennison and Gonzolez made several key plays... The Offensive line protected Trent well and gave him plenty of time to do his thing. :)) And things about this game we'd like to forget...Two passes thrown in Morton's numbers were dropped... A touchdown by Tony G. was taken off the boards due to a phantom interference call... A missed 31 yard goal... Priest's fumble after a 40 yard run... and the final score 38-31...:((
