Private Lorenzo D. Brooks

Pvt. Lorenzo D. Brooks was born on in 1841 or 1842 in Callaway County, Missouri, the son of Thomas Brooks, born in Culpepper, Virginia and Elizabeth Bullard also of Virginia. Thomas was living in Callaway County, Missouri prior to Missouri's statehood (1817) and was one of the earliest settlers. Lorenzo was one of 12 children, 2 of his brothers are confirmed to have fought for the CSA, and a third brother is believed to have fought for the CSA.

The following is Pvt. Brooks' Military Service Information.

Private, Co. E., 9th Missouri Infantry, Company H, Clark’s Regiment , Missouri Infantry, enlisted July 1, 1862 in Callaway County.

From Robert Guorley: Civil War Muster Rolls show that Lorenzo was wounded at the Battle of Little Rock, also known as the Battle of Bayou Forche on September 10, 1863, his name appears later a roll as "in the hospital in Little Rock".

Lorenzo lived with his brother, G. R. Brooks until after the death of G.R. in 1908 - then at the Higginsville Confederate Home.

Lorenzo D. Brooks was born 1841 or 1842 in Callaway County and died August 21, 1914 at the Confederate Old Soldiers Home at Higginsville, Missouri.
