How to Raise a Shifter.
Firstly, this is not THE way of raising a shifter. It's just the way I raised some of my shifters.
To raise Reptile/Feline primary:
Start by joining the shifter class and learning opossum. Then go to Trough and learn Brawl. Advance Brawl as soon as the time limit runs out.
Run CX
- Raise dex and str with the exp, then con if you have exp left.
- Run CX in opossum as soon as you can, so you get time in form.
Kill to level 5:
- Newbie Manor - Healing (2n, u, w, sleep).
- Newbie Park - Tree (go to the sw corner, then ne) has apples to pick.
Get opossum 3, then learn your primary form (chameleon/cat). Don't forget Brawl.
Kill to level 10:
- Haunted Ship - Kill in primary form (chameleon/cat).
- Healing room (e, s, e, u, 2n)
- Use Zhou to raise unarmed (or other) skills here if you wish. See the Skills page.
- You could also start killing in the Brawling Arena (see below).
If you are killing in form, you should be getting time in form. Use this to advance your primary form (chameleon/cat) to medium size, then learn 2nd level form (nelitos/panther respectively).
Here you have a choice about which to raise first. I suggest completing your 1st level form as you can fight better while advancing your 2nd level form (1st level advances quicker). Just don't forget Brawl.
Kill to level 15:
- The Southeast Isle has a healing circle and this area is therefore great for mid-level shifters. Kill in form to raise time, or idle in the healing circle (all n, all w, all s, enter, 'join circle' from the dock) to keep in form. For those with the patience, this is a good place to stock up time in higher level forms without heals for sps.
Advance forms, concentrating on maxxing your 2nd level form (nelitos/panther) first, for the same reason that you maxxed your 1st level form first. Did I mention Brawl?
From here, you get to the fun part. Fighting in the Brawling Arena is the easiest method (besides good parties) to advance your forms at this point. You also get reasonable cash for the loot. Focus on raising your third level form (Drakon/Xaerre) to medium size once you have maxxed your second level form. You can do this in Nelitos, Panther, Drakon or Xaerre, but Xaerres may benefit from the chance to raise their skills. Did I mention that raising Skills as Xaerre takes a while? I recommend fighting with the one type of skill at first.
When you have medium size Drakon or Xaerre, you can start to Solo harder kills. Drakons have breath (not good, but it's a start) while Xaerre's have slightly better claw. Both should have decent skills by this point. Max your primary clan by soloing (or Partying, as Xaerres are good bashers) and idling in form (if you need to). Xaerres could skill tag while idling. Drakons can too, but their skill (unarmed) should be pretty high by now.
With Mystical Drakon or Heroic Xaerre, you can easily make the experience needed for your other forms (but that's boring, kill in the form you're trying to raise, unless it's rock). You'll probably be used to the time requirements by now.
To raise Forest primary:
First off, you're brave (or stupid) and I hope you're not a newbie to either AA or Shifters. That said, I haven't tried seriously raising a forest primary yet.
Like reptile/feline primaries, you need to join the class, learn opossum and learn brawl. Advance brawl as soon as you can.
Run CX
- Raise dex and str with the exp.
- Run CX in opossum as soon as you can, so you get time in form.
Kill to level 5:
- Newbie Manor - Healing (2n, u, w, sleep).
- Newbie Park - Tree (go to the sw corner, ne) has apples to pick.
Get opossum 3, then learn flower. Don't forget to train Brawl.
Kill to level 10:
- Haunted Ship - 29n, 5e, enter hole. Until over exp requirement for level 10.
- Kill in opossum.
- Healing room (e, s, e, u, 2n from entrance).
You can learn cat/chameleon as your secondary and use that to get exp. You can raise it to a reasonable level (panther/nelitos 3-5), then use all your exp for Forest forms. If you choose this option, I recommend that you kill in cat/chameleon as soon as you get the form.
Or you could max your secondary clan before working on Forest forms. If you do this, learn flower, then learn your secondary form and follow the steps for raising a Reptile/Feline primary above.
Kill to level 15:
- SE Isle - In cat/chameleon form (or tree/panther/nelitos if you have them). Use the healing circle to heal and stay in form (except forest forms, as it is indoors).
- Use the Brawling Arena from here, or kill solo or in parties. If you want to solo or tank, try the Tree/Treant Kills List.
When (or if) you start raising other forms, you'll already have a reasonable head-start on your secondary clan, but it may have taken you longer to get to this point than reptile or feline primaries.
