Jefreys Clarify Endorsement
ST. LOUIS, Missouri -- G-Fi pop supergroup The Jefreys were startled to
learn
this week that they had received an endorsement from the St. Louis
Chapter
of Queer Nation for their political and artistic efforts. Matt Zimmer,
Jefreys' singer and presidential candidate, was given a $1,000 check by
Jay
Sweeney, president of the QN St. Louis Chapter, to help in their quest
for
the White House.
"Look, this isn't what you're thinking," Zimmer said, shortly after
being
questioned by reporters from his hometown newspaper, The
Webster-Kirkwood
Times. "We happen to support equal rights for all people, and QN
obviously
has a good taste in music. Really, that's all."
Upon hearing about the donation, guitarist Bryan Erwin was ecstatic.
"Hey,
I'll take money wherever I can get it," he said, "But like Zimmer said,
this
doesn't mean anything."
The $1,000 donation from QN is the maximum of amount of money a
candidate
can receive from a donor under current federal election laws.
"There are many reasons why we did this," Sweeney explained, "We admire
Matthew
and Bryan's partnership, as well as their insightful lyrics. We can
really
relate to their early songs, such as 'Sweater Lovin,' about a young man
obsessed with fashion; and we all know what they mean by having
confusion
about E.T.'s gender. Uh-huh."
Zimmer emphasized to reporters that he was a Playboy subscriber.
