The year: 1996. Rising from the ashes of a post-pop-punk wasteland that dominated the music scene in the mid-1990's, they were the Jefreys.

Beginning as a touring band, the Jefreys won a legion of loyal fans throughout the United States and Canada without issuing a single commercial release. Through grassroots touring, songs like "Sweater Lovin'" and "Trampoline Girl" became instant cult classics on college campuses from Barrow, Alaska to Goobies, Newfoundland. Facing bankruptcy and numerous paternity suits, the Jefreys were forced to take a hiatus from touring and go underground to avoid detection from various government agencies.

As the millennium approaches, the band has realized that now is the time for the proverbial "make it or break it". Reappearing from the shadows of post-punk history and their own sordid past, but unable to secure live gigs, the Jefreys decided to finally record a mere sampling of their vastly extensive catalog. Inventing a new standard of recording, G-fi, named after their label Gargantuan Records and rumored among insiders to be "lower than lo-fi", the release of Sold Out! begins a new chapter in the history of this unappreciated, yet undeniably legendary, band.
