Pumpkin Cake
1 yellow cake mix
Reserve one cup cake mix, set aside.
Combine the rest of the cake mix with 1 egg
and 1/2 cup butter. Mix well, then press into
a 9" x 13' pan, ungreased, press lightly up
the sides.
Mix together:
3 cups pumpkin
3/4 cup sugar
3 eggs
1 cup evaporated milk
4 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
Pour into cake shell. Then combine the
reserve cake mix with 1/4 cup butter and 1/4
cup sugar. Crumble on top of pumpkin mixture.
Bake at 350 for 45 minutes or until done, or
bake a little longer at 325. Note:
When using fresh pumpkin, cooking time
will be just a little longer, also, with
fresh pumpkin it is a little pale in color,
so I add 4 drops of red and 8 drops of yellow
food color. I also sprinkle a little cinnamon
on top before baking. It also tastes great
with whip cream on top. When I mix the
pumpkin mixture together, I do it in a big
pan and warm it slightly before it goes in
the shell. DONATED BY:SHIRLEY

Kalauchy Crescents
4 1/2 cups flour
2 cups crisco
1 teaspoon salt
Make like pie dough, dissolve 1 cake of
yeast (or 1 package of yeast) into 3/4 cup of
scalded milk that has been cooled, but still
slightly warm. 1 teaspoon sugar, beat 4 eggs
(1 at a time) and add to the milk. Pour over
dry ingredients and mix, (it's best to mix by
hand). Cover and let stand over night in
refrigerator (or a least 8 hours) Take about
1 tablespoon (or a little less) and roll into
a ball. (When making these, take a small
amount of dough out at a time and keep the
rest in the refrigerator.) Pat out in
granulated sugar, make it round and thin.
Spread small amount of nut filling, then roll
up. Pinch ends closed then shape into a
crescent. Place on ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake at 375 for 12-15 minutes, or until they
are starting to tan on the bottom. Let cool a
couple of minutes on cookie sheet, then put
on wax paper to cool. Filling:
1 lb. ground nuts
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
and enough milk to moisten
