The Cross Country team placed first in two tournaments this year. They finished fifth at the district meet and compiled a 35-12 record.

The Jay football team came within 1 point of winning their fourth straight state championship, falling to the Webster Groves Statesmen. The Homecoming game brought Coach Adkins his 200th victory as head coach for the Jays along with his 250th career win. The greatest accomplishment of the season was obtaining the right to play in the first annual Shoe-Me Bowl held in Busch Stadium in St. Louis.

The Jay basketball team has experienced the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. They finished their season with a record of 10 wins and 17 losses. Howard Galbreath had a 45.9% field goal percentage and Brian Hayes was selected the best defensive player.

This year's 74 member boys' track team contained only eleven seniors, but with a little luck and lots of hard work they were able to salvage the district championship along with a fourth place finish in the state meet.

The Baseball team had a 7-10 record. Eddie Silvey led the team with a a .300 average and also led the team with the most hits, runs and stolen bases.
