The Mormon Faith & Black Folks
Important Points to Ponder
Important Points to Ponder
*Mormons did not enslave black Africans. This was
Roman Catholics, Protestants, Jews, and Muslims. Catholics, Protestants, or
Jews from the South of the United States who became converts to the LDS Church
either set their black slaves free, or made a indentured servant contract with
them.
*Mormons did not disenfranchise blacks in the South;
preventing them to vote and to be true citizens of the United States.
*Mormons did not invent or promote the theory of the inherent
inferiority of the Negro. This philosophy of men was established by
occultists and humanists. It was accepted by most white men in the 19th
and early 20th century; a few
of them were Mormons, but the great
majority of white Mormons rejected this false and
satanically-inspired notion. Mormon
scripture presents Hamites as the founders of civilization; with all its arts
and sciences. It says they were “blessed with wisdom” (Abr. 1:26). The only
exception of this is Joseph Fielding Smith; who later repented of his error and
repudiated his prior moderate racist teachings.
*The Mormons did not establish the Ku Klux Klan and
other such radical racist
organizations. Gnostics did, and convinced ignorant self-righteous white
Protestants to become members; by flattering their egos and appealing to their
racial prides. The LDS Church was a great adversary to the KKK, and over a
dozen Mormon missionaries in the South of the United States paid for this
opposition with their own blood.
*The Mormons did not try to curtail the rights of black folks. The LDS Church in
fact defended their rights in
print; even in the day that such defense was an unpopular thing to do.
*Mormons who try to deny that the Church ever taught
that Negroes (people of black African lineage) were Cainites or “cursed” as pertaining to
the Priesthood, are either speaking out of ignorance of Church history or
deliberately lying in order to avoid personal embarrassment. Any Member of
the Church can truthfully say “I personally believe the Priesthood ban was a
mistake!” but they cannot and do not speak for the Church. Only The
First Presidency can speak for the Church, and only The First Presidency can
call the Priesthood ban a “mistake”. But there is no indication (2001 A.D.)
that The First Presidency will ever make such a statement.
*The Mormons did not invent the Priesthood ban
as a way to discriminate against black folks. They accepted it because they
believed in the divine inspiration of their leaders, and their leaders claimed
that the doctrine came from the Prophet Joseph Smith, and it rises or falls,
sinks or swims, upon his being a true Prophet of not. Church leaders claimed it
was from the LORD. Since Mormons accept
them as “Living Prophets”, they must also accept their official
pronouncements as the Mind and Will of the LORD.. Although the “Less
Valiant Theory” was never “official” (though many Mormons assumed it was thanks
to the dogmatic and authoritative style of the writings of Joseph Fielding
Smith and Bruce R. McConkie), the Curse of Cain Doctrine was always an
official doctrine of the Church, and remains so until officially
repudiated by The First Presidency; whether we like it or not. No matter if such revelations are popular
with the World or not. No matter if such revelations are popular with the
Saints or not. Divine Truth goes beyond what is popular, or what we
necessarily fancy or like, or what we want to be true. Divine
Truth is above us all. We can only submit to it, or reject it. But
Divine Truth remains unaffected by our own personal choices, feelings, desires,
likes, dislikes, and opinions.
*Is LDS Doctrine on Negroes TRULY Racist?
Now, the LDS Church taught that Hamites were superior
in wisdom, the inventors of civilization, the spirit-children of God, possibly
the first chosen people of God
(Jaredites), cursed as pertaining to the Priesthood (until 1978), but
blessed with wisdom; and always the heirs of the highest glory in
the Celestial Kingdom if they lived righteous lives.
Is that racist?
If you wish to believe it is, then please do so. But please remember that God’s Truths are not
bound by the popular slogans and ‘politically-correct’ philosophies of men. It is the LORD who
decides what is racist, what is non-racist, what is Truth, and what is
error; not man. Man has no right to judge the things of God, but
he will be judged by God.
Rather than read the Truths of God by the light of
Humanism and popular consensus reality, we should rather read Humanism
and the Philosophies of Men by the light of God’s Revelations.
*Faithful and True Servants are ‘Tested’ and ‘Proved’
by the LORD
Those of you who accept the Will of the LORD, and
endure to the end, shall inherit Eternal Life. Those of you who let their
prides keep them away from being an faithful servant of the LORD until the end
of their lives, shall not inherit Eternal Life.
Do you want Eternal Life?
The LORD has declared that for the sons and daughter
of Ham the legacy of the Priesthood ban is your ‘test’; to see if you shall
remain faithful and a worthy servant. The LORD has declared:
“I have decreed in my heart, saith the Lord, that I
will prove you in all things, whether you will abide in my covenant, even unto
death, that you may be found worthy. For if ye will not abide in my covenant,
ye are not worthy of me.” (D&C 98:14-15)
*Truth Comes Via Sincere Searching and Prayer
Since June 8th, 1978, black-skinned and
white-skinned Hamites can now have the Priesthood and all the blessings and
divine responsibilities entitled with that Priesthood. Thus was fulfilled the promises, and also a
fulfillment of the scriptures:
“9And this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, of
all nations, and kindreds, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before
the Lamb, clothed in white robes, and palms in their hands;
15 Therefore are they before the Throne of God, and
serve him day and night in his Temple: and he that sitteth on the
throne shall dwell among them. (Revelations 7:9.15)
“17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit
saith unto the churches: To him that overcometh will I gave to eat of the
hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name
written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.” (Revelations 2:17)
You are welcome to come and see for yourself, through
reading, listening, asking questions, and especially prayer, if
it is of God or not. The most popular way of doing this is by inviting the
Missionaries into your home, and listening to the Discussions; especially The
Plan of Salvation.
We can testify to you, as surely as the LORD lives
that if you listen to the Discussions, with an open-mind, a contrite (humble)
spirit, with real sincere
intent, that He will manifest to you, by the power of the Holy Spirit,
that what the Missionaries teach you will be true.
Such a knowledge of this Gospel will bless your life,
both materially and spiritually. You will behold, with your own eyes, miracles
in your life and in the lives of your loved ones. It will be the greatest joy
you have ever known or could possibly know. It will cause you to become, if you remain faithful and worthy all
of your life, and if you offer your sacrifices to the LORD in a state of
worthiness, an heir of Paradise,
and finally an heir of God and a joint-heir of Christ; inheriting Gardens of
Eden: worlds without end.
We testify to
you that Jesus is the Christ, our Savior, the Son of God, and Joseph the Seer
was His Apostle and Prophet of the Restoration; an instrument by which the
Priesthood was restored to the Earth, and His Messenger to prepare the way for His Second Advent and to gather His
Elect from one end of the earth to the other.
These things we humbly testify
to you in the holy name of JESUS CHRIST, Amen.
