Sometimes the best radios are found on the way back from the show. This 1937 Zenith 9S244 chairside was discovered Friday at an antique store on the way home from the Rochester ham fest.
The finish and grille cloth are original and in nice shape. According to the woman at the counter, it had just come in that morning.

As you can see, this is a motorized tuning version. The chassis is clean, and the shutter mechanism works flawlessly. The dial is immaculate and has not faded like so many I've seen. Even the sliding glass cover looks to be original.
Other blackdial radios to come!
