I first became interested in antique wireless around 1979/80 through the old "Elementary Electronics" magazine and its monthly column on old radio projects. A friend I met as a freshman in high school introduced me to the magazine and mentioned this really neat club that was all about old radios, how they would meet in Canandaigua (a little over a half hour away) for a flea-market in the fall. This, of course was the Antique Wireless Association. There are many fond memories of my father driving us to those first few meets. The AWA guys were so great. Whenever they would see these two 14 year old kids coming, boxes of free stuff and $5 radios would appear! I still have some of that stuff today:) My membership lapsed for a few years during and just after college, so during the early '90s, I decided to clean out some of my radio stuff. While at the conference that first year back, much of the old stuff was sold... and was replaced by more stuff! I had been bit by the bug again!
