At one time, plastic radios were of no interest to me. Then came this Mantola. When first discovered in the farthest rear corner of a second hand shop, its classic design and clean condition were very appealing. That first day however, I left without it. Money was extremely tight then and even the paltry sum the proprietor wanted was beyond my reach. After several frantic days of creative financing, however, the goal was reached and the Mantola came home to rest quietly on the shelf above my bed.

It was the Rochester ham-fest 2000, and the event was winding down. The last of my money had been spent and the final trip back to the car was underway, when this nice Crosley was discovered sitting on the ground where a booth had been. Kneeling down to examine it, I was greeted by a friendly gentleman who explained that it was the last item to go back on his truck. He didn't want very much for it and I was flat busted! However, I remembered a sign he had posted looking for old computers and also remembered two ancient computers rotting away in my garage. The bottom line? After following me home, He now has two new additions to his computer museum, and there is one addition to my aforementioned bedroom shelf.
This white Belmont is the sister to the brown bakelite version used as an icon on this site. They both display very nicely despite each having a rather large crack on its side.

These aren't as old (1981), but what the heck...they're the sillyest looking Walkie-Talkies I've seen:)

Greetings Earthlings - Take me to your Radios! No, this pair of R2D2s aren't radios, but they -are- radio controlled. They can move in any direction and make cool noises.
