Deep in the Night

and there isn't really one there,
but I don't know, deep in the night.
crazy pays, or lights the way,
I bend and grow,and in the end I know,
deep in the night.
phantom figures, goldfish grins and it seems like so much is happening,
deep in the night.

trodden deep into the realms of a fallen songbird
pounding out the rhythm like a drum inside my head
back beat, down beat,
all around us like broken glass in painted sheets
the sound starts to spread
into the rain,into the rain, a blind man scrys deep into the rain
and I can feel myself running to the image that he sees
i can see myself running without an ounce of restraint
you can catch a broken heartbeat on the point of a knife
or you can hold the rain thats falling
on the ground with closed eyes

Gravity is nothing to me, moving at the speed of sound. I'm just going to get my feet wet until I drown. And I teeter between tired and really, really tired and I'm wiped out and wired, but I guess it's just as well. Because I built my own empire out of car tires and chicken wire and I'm queen of my own compost heap and I'm getting used to the smell.
