Slamp- a very good soul site with some great tunes. Some of it's in Spanish.
E-Jams. Mostly aimed at newer, lighter soul. I don't like this type of music as much as 70's funk, but I can still dig it.
The Booty Bone. Very much funk-oriented site with lots of soul overtones. Great site!
Very comprehensive funk-devoted site. I like this one!
Soul of the Net. Very 60's soul. For those who are just discovering the wonders of funk, start here.

The best CD that I know of is Aretha Franklin's 30 Best Songs which I don't own, but I know and love most of the songs on it. The best CD that I own is Pure Funk- a compilation of some of the greatest funk songs around, including Isaac Hayes' classic Oscar-winning Theme from Shaft.

I can always dig more music, so if you know a really good song I need to hear, just e-mail me and tell me what it is.

On another note: some people may know who Dave Barry is, a very funny humorist who lives in Miami. He's got a book out that I just found out about called The Book of Bad Songs. This includes some of the worst songs ever made like the awful "Yummy Yummy Yummy" and the "I'm a Little Bit Country". I really suggest this book for anyone who doubts that soul and funk are the best genres around. It really shows how much some of that other stuff stinks.

The Grammy nominations came out recently. I really never have liked the grammies so I haven't kept track of who got nominated for what, but I hear Lauryn Hill got nominated for a lot. I'm hoping everyone out there who's reading my site is rooting for Lauryn Hill; if you don't, you have no business being on here.
