Since you come not bearing weapons then you must be a friend. My name is Sobutai Ka. I was once a soldier in the army of Temujin, or known to many as Ghengis Khan. I was a heavy infantry soldier in the Baraunghar and had been for approximately six years. My career was well on its way to fruitfulness. Then in the winter of our push into Nilab I had an arguement with the son of our tumen's orlok(general). It was a drunken arguement and should never have happened. The arguement turned to battle and I killed the boy. He was only sixteen years and a new soldier to the army.
I fled the camp knowing that they would be looking for me and traveled west. I found a place they called a tavern and tried to drown my shame and dishonor to my family in what I had done. Later that night an odd group of soldiers came in the small building and were avoided by the regulars in there.
I did not wish to be disturbed but one of the group, an olive skined man insisted in leering at me and boasting of his fighting skill. He had many scars and I did not doubt he could handle himself well in battle. But I was not in the mood for men of his company. He then said he would accept a challenge from any man in a battle to the death. Since no one spoke up he chose his challenger. He walked up to me and struck me in the head with the pommel of his sword, and then went outside.
I had no weapon, but a dark man in the corner gave me his blade and said nothing. I followed the man out and our fight was long and painful. He was a good warrior even full of drink. But in the end he died. I had regained my own pride in this battle and was much better for it.
The dark man introduced himself as Pavia and asked if I would join his group of mercenaries. I decided it was better then running all my life and a soldier was all I knew how to be. I accepted and have traveled with them ever since.
