The Turney family is also my
wife's family line.
The Turney family starts with Peter Turney. Peter was born circa
1692-1728. Peter came to America from Switzerland in about 1741.
He became acquainted with Eva Marie Swartz on board ship and married
her. They settled in Culpepper County, VA. Peter and Eva's children
were (1) Henry born 1745 VA. Henry married Elizabeth Summers born
1750. They had 10 children. Rebekah, John, Jacob B, Isaac, Mary,
George, Katherine, Joseph, Daniel Watson, and Peter.
(2) Daniel born 1758 VA. Daniel married Susan Matheney. They had one
son John.
(3) Michael dob unknown. Michael married Nettie Matheney.
(4) Peter dob unknown.
Our Turney's descend from Peter to Henry to Isaac etc., so even though
I have a lot of information this report will follow the direct descendants
only.
Henry and Elizabeth's son Isaac born 1777 VA. married Mary Polly
Gilliam born 1778. They had 11 children. Joseph, Ishom, Pleasant, Lemuel
T., Bowman, John Clanton, Mary Polly, Elizabeth, Sarah, George, and
Frances,
John Clanton was born August 28, 1812 in DeKalb County, TN. John's wife
was Phoebe Jane Scott born December 22, 1819 in IN. They had 6
children. Hannah, Mary Catherine, John Scott, George Isaac, William
Bowman, and Clanton Lewis.
John Scott Turney born July 14, 1854 married Azuba Ann Eoff born
October 10, 1852. They had 7 children. Isaac C., Eliza Jane, George
Robert, Dorcha, William Albert, John Samuel, Senthie Frank.
Isaac C "Ike" was born November 30, 1875 in Searcy County, AR.
He married Mary Frances Madewell born February 10, 1880
in Low Gap, AR. They were married December 11, 1896 in Newton County,
AR. Children of Isaac and Mary are William McKinley born October 20,
1898 in Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory, OK. John Calvin born 1905 in
Garfield, Benton County, AR. and Virginia M born 1908 AR.
William McKinley married Jewell Grimes born November 4, 1903. They
were married in her grandmother's home on July 29, 1919.
William and Jewell's children
were Alcidene, Zella Lorene, Ray Eugene, Eva Ilene, Lillian Nadene, William
Issac, Paul Ansel, and Edward Martin, and Nelda Faye.
