SATYRICON - Wheels Of Steel!
SATYRICON have formed a business partnership with Ferrari. The band's Satyr made the following statement, "This is simply great! Our ambition was to drive Ferrariīs instead of a fuckinī tour bus next year. Now we can go ahead and do that with pride. Sure, things take a turn for the better now. With these Ferrari's we can drive so fast that we can play in Rome one evening, and then leave for Paris and play there the evening before!"
Ferrari's Jean Todt says: "This is a joyous moment. This result was our objective from the start of the year, as it has also been in the past. I am happy and feel honoured to work with such a fantastic team and an exceptional driver like Michael. I am also very happy for the 550 people of the Gestione Sportiva who have worked intensively over the years to reach this goal. With all the attention focussed on Michael (Schumacher) today, we must not forget the great contribution of Rubens Barrichello and Luca Badoer to the result. I thank President Montezemolo for having put the means at our disposal to achieve this result. And I thank Satyricon for making the soundtrack for this seasonīs success. Now we still need three points to win the Constructors' Championship again and that will be our target in two weeks time in Malaysia. Today's win (October 8th - Japanese Grand Prix) came after an exciting fight with an unworthy opponent. Hakkinen is a terrible driver and a loser, both as a man and as a professional.
BRUCE DICKINSON - Chemical Update!
BRUCE DICKINSON has exclusively revealed to TotalRock the details of a film project with which he's involved. The film is to be based on his album The Chemical Wedding, but contrary to reports elsewhere it will not be directed by Terry Gilliam, but by Julian Doyle, who worked on the video for the IRON MAIDEN hit 'Can I Play With Madness'. The script is currently being finalised and the finances are being put in place, with production due to begin next year. Dickinson confirmed that nobody has yet been cast for the film, nor has any musical content yet been agreed upon.

The VHS version will contain 95 minutes Additional footage includes the live shows along with video clips, TV and Internet trailers, a slideshow, a product showcase, a special animated chapter and additional audio tracks.
MEGADETH - Sanctuary Signs Mega-Dave! MEGADETH has signed a new recording deal with Sanctuary Records, according to the band's Web site. EMPEROR - Early Predictions! EMPEROR are currently working on material for their upcoming, as-yet-untitled album. Here's a quick update, courtesy of Ihsahn. "Well there is not much news really, I am writing music for the next Emperor album and we hope to have it finished for February next year and hope to have it released, maybe in April or May. It's taken a bit of a different approach lyrically and musically, we always try to put something new in there but I don't think it will be as drastic as Ulver. I mean we're not gonna take that kind of step and it's not going to be a jazz album or anything. I won't say it's going to be a mixture between Anthems or IX Equilibrium, but of course that's not going to be true. Well I hope it won't be. It's still a bit early to say."
ENSLAVED - The Beyond! Norwegian extreme metal warriors ENSLAVED prepare to unleash their new album at the end of September. Entitled Mardraum - Beyond The Within, this is a different Enslaved experience, but like each album, a grand testimony to the true. Here is what guitarist Ivar Bjornson had to say about the new album. "It was something that came along really naturally I think. Blodhemn released a lot of aggressive energy then and Mardraum is a more well thought-out and more true in a different way of writing songs. At the end of the recording process I started to hear that a lot of the music reminded me of the older stuff. Not that we did it consciously or on purpose, but I heard a lot of stuff from Frost on here, the first album, even some Eld and of course Blodhemn because that's so close and it set a new standard for the way we now play and make songs. But some people have already said it's the least dramatic album. It's the least melodramatic, it's more like a silent enigma (laughs). It's more subtle in that way. But it's very dramatic, not so much physical aggression but more like a psychological aggression. For me it's a journey, I still listen to it almost everyday, I'm very happy with it. We have all these curves, uphills and downhills and all that. I enjoy it." And on September 25th the bands official website, www.enslavedunion.com, will be officially open for business.
CRYPTOPSY - Begging As A Need For Pain! On October 31st Montreal's respected CRYPTOPSY shall unleash what is to be their most extreme album to date through Century Media Records. Entitled And Then You'll Beg, the new music shows the immense growth of the band and how the band are not afraid to step up to the plate and take the new challenge that lies ahead of them. For Cryptopsy, the creativity drive seems unlimited. "I find it a lot cooler now," says guitarist Jon Levasseur. "Because I find that the good brutal bands these last couple of years have been coming out because there was a long time in death metal that everything was the same. Then there was an extreme wave that started and bands started to write songs in other ways, sing music in other ways and a whole bunch of great brutal bands came out and it's good for the new extreme music scene." "It's a compromise," continues drummer Flo Mounier about the band's sheer technicality while still maintaining a groove that people can comprehend. "Sometimes we're being loco and we're obviously saying, 'No this is not going to go over', because nobody is going to understand it. We like to have some stuff simple just so when you go into something complicated, it sounds that much more complicated. It's all about judgment and creating something that people like; some people can pull it off and some can't. We just like to have a diverse style and that's what we've always wanted to do." Vocalist Mike DiSalvo adds, "I think it pays off when we get to listen to it and say, 'Fuck that's a great album.' Just when we finished off the tracks and I walked out and it was like, 'Yes we did it and we're fuckin' happy about it!' The vibe was beautiful and that's all you can ask for. As long as you feel good in your heart and gave it your all and you're proud of what you did, that's all that matters."

ROB HALFORD - Stage Harley On Hiatus ElectricBasement.com asked ROB HALFORD if we'd see his famous motorcycle on stage when he tours North America with IRON MAIDEN. He laughed but was quick to say, "No. I didn't want to mislead people. I was a bit concerned whether we should use the bike on the cover but my manager Rod Smallwood said look, this is you. This is part of you. So we should go ahead and let people see that it is still a part my life. But I won't bring it out on stage. I explained to Rod that the bike is very much entrenched in the marriage with Judas Priest. I don't feel comfortable using it on stage." In related news, it always takes a good rumour to wake up a publicity department - according to JUDAS PRIEST's management co-ordinator, Jayne Andrews, the bands new album is far beyond the demo stage. DIMMU BORGIR - Astennu Is Out! In a statement posted on the band's website, dimmu-borgir.com, DIMMU BORGIR had this to say regarding the firing of Astennu, "With this statement we want to announce that Astennu has been fired and will no longer be a part of Dimmu Borgir. Basically we decided to release Astennu from all duties because it became apparent over the past 7-8 months that he was in the band for all the wrong reasons and had lost all of his passion and dedication, enthusiasm and 100% commitment to Dimmu Borgir and what we stand for. For all of us in the band, Dimmu is our life, it`s a way of life and not some fucking boring day job!!! So we came to a unanimous decision about the whole affair and we are proud to announce Astennu`s replacement, Archon on guitar who will appear on the forthcoming as yet untitled new album due to be recorded in September 2000. Silenoz says, "We kept the whole affair with Astennu confidential for a while untill we found a suitable replacement. Dedication and 100% commitment was what we were looking for in a musician and these are qualities we noticed immediately in Archon as well as being a killer guitarist and an individual. The first two weeks with Archon proved to be very productive and successful and he's allready contributed to three of the new songs. There's a very positive atmosphere within the band and we're looking forward to recording the new material and next year's world tour in support of the album!"
FEAR FACTORY Album Report! According to www.fearfactory.com, FEAR FACTORY provided the following update on their forthcoming album. "We will be recording in L.A. We have not picked a studio as yet, but we will pick one soon. As far as a producer goes, we are still looking into producers, but this is what we know: Bob Rock will NOT do the record, he said it was too heavy for him. Toby Wright will not do the record either, he is doing the new Ozzy record. The original plan was to do it ourselves with Rhys Fulber. Rhys will still be a part of this album no matter what, but we are still looking at producers. We will be going into the studio on September 5th. We have 21 songs in total, with eight for the album. We want to write two or three more for the album; the rest of the tracks will be b-side tracks, video game tracks, movie tracks, etc."
MORBID ANGEL - Gateways Complete! MORBID ANGEL's new album, Gateways To Annihilation, due out through Earache on September 25th, has the following track listing: 'Kawazu', 'Summoning Redemption', 'Ageless, Still I Am', 'He Who Sleeps', 'To The Victor The Spoils', 'At One With Nothing', 'Opening Of The Gates', 'Secured Limitations', 'Awakening', 'I' and 'God of The Forsaken'.
