Inspiration & Influence

Stephanie's Musical Influence

Stephanie's musical influences are widespread. "When I was young, I always listened to The Monkees, The Bangles, Lovin' Spoonful, and Paula Abdul. Now that I'm older I enjoy The Backstreet Boys, 30 Odd Foot of Grunts, All Saints, Matchbox 20, Jewel, Aaliyah, Third Eye Blind, Pink Floyd, Metallic, Aerosmith, Sister Hazel, Usher, Will Smith, Janet Jackson, Amy Grant, Sheryl Crow, Elton John, Billy Joel...well, I could go on all day because I love music. I think it's fascinating to hear what people like Max Martin and Lou Pearlman can do with a song. Most of the credit for a lot of the songs should go to the people behind the songs who put the music and sound effects in. They are truly talented individuals. I also think the credit should go to awesome managers of great bands. My favorite managers are Donna and Johnny Wright. They can do so much with artists, it is unbelievable.

Pam's Musical Influence

Two years ago in July, we first heard The Backstreet Boys on the radio. They inspired me to become professionally what I knew I had always been at heart, and what I had forever wanted to become - a performer who brings a tear to the eye, a smile to the face, and joy to the heart. For me, that was somewhat difficult because during all of elementary and middle school (Not to mention the first half of high school), I was very withdrawn, self conscious, and, shall we say, not very well liked. But to make a long story short (too late!), by the time I began to get serious about my musical career, I was starting my sophomore year and caught in a Catch 22. Everyone knows that someone has to give you a chance in order for you to gain experience, but you have to have experience before anyone will so much as look at you. One man saw my predicament and pulled me to my feet. So, although I give credit to The Backstreet Boys for teaching me how to sing, and my family for supporting me, I also must give credit to Greg LaSan for believing in me. Special thanks also goes out to my middle school choir teacher, Becky Clark. I will always remember what she said to me when she found out I was back in choir in high school after I had quit in 8th grade to try drama. She said to me, "See, I knew you couldn't live without music." And she was right.
