Chapter twenty

"Holy shit!"

Isaac Hanson gaped at his manager in awe.

"Isaac watch your mouth. Your mother would kill me."

"Oh My god!"

"Isaac, not that big a deal, sit down."

Isaac, Taylor and Zac hanson had gathered at a common meeting place with their manager, chris sabec.

"Woah ho! Taylor...He he he he. Man....you are in for it."

Zac was laughing and pointing at his 16 year old brother.

"I'd stuff it kid, not like you didn't say anything."

"Well boys, since you find this so amusing, care to chime me in?"

Chris sat leaning back, waiting for an explanation.

"Well, I mean, chris, I mean, man..."

Isaac was stumbling over his words, a little dumb founded maybe.

"What ol' ikey boy over here is trying to say is, we saw them. At some club, we saw them and we liked them."

Taylor stood up.

"Don't look so excited or anything. You guys may have actually found something good. Real good."

Taylor turned around and walked away. His face was hot and he didn't feel like getting in any argument. Isaac had been stuck on these guys for a long time. Ever since they saw them at Benks.

"Stupid friggin people. What's so big about it anyway?"

Taylor started mumbling to himself. He had no reason to rejoice. His friends had told them that, indeed, the group was good and talented, they were simply closed minded, and had no tolerance for hanson. Taylor was hopefully crossing his fingers, wondering if they would make an exception.

The news had come earlier that day. They had been spotted at the promotional in Denver, and had been discussed by several record labels, only to be picked by Mercury. They must be good. They supposedly had people begging for their name, or so rumor had it. Probably not true. Chris was probably jerking their chains.

"Where does he think he's going?"

Taylor walked out the door of the resteraunt and walked to his car.

"This sucks. Man. What was Mercury thinking."

Taylor mumbled to himself all the way to the car.

He had been some what excited at the thought that, this group of kids might go somewhere, he had not, however planned on them joining up with Mercury.

"He's just had a rough week that's all Chris."

Zac sat forward in his chair, looking out the window as taylor sped off.

"So then you've met these guys?"

"Actually no. We tried, but we couldn't. To make it short, we ended up being stopped by a bouncer."

Isaac raised his eyebrow.

"Not to mention a big bouncer at that."

"So then guys, do we have any plans this afternoon, or should we stop by the Dentra house?"

Zac laughed.

"Pardon me sir, but uh, NO!"

Chris stared at Zac.

"You have to meet them some time."

"No where in that peice of paper I signed does it say I have to interact with a bunch of punks."

"Ever think they might have the same feelings about you?"

"Of course not, I'm all knowing. They should know that by now."

Isaac stood up.

"Well Zac, we gotta run."

"Ike, you're not getting away that easy. You DO have to meet them."

"Nope. Not required. Talk to me later."

"Zac? Come on zaaacccc. I know you do."

Zac looked intently at Chris.

"Uh. Nope. He he he he. I'm not going."

"Yeah you are."

"No I'm not."

"BS, we're going right now."

"I don't think so."

"Isaac, your brother just agreed to go with me."

"I did not!! Take it back man!"

"Nope, it'll be good for you."

Chris started walking to the door, Zac laying in complaints whenever possible. Following him all the while.

Zac scowled at Chris.

"This is stupid. I bet they aren't even home, and you know something, they are gonna be pissed you didn't ccall ahead, and your not their manager, and your bringing a hanson around. They will hate you right off the bat you know."

Zac was trying his hardest to get Chris to turn off the narrow street he had just turned onto.

"Zac, I know they live here cause the guys said something about it, and they know that someone from Mercury is coming down."

"Hello Chris! Hello! Earth to Chris! You aren't a part of Mercury! Your just our manager!"

"So. I'm still going, and your coming with."

"Damnit."

"What did I tell you about that stuff you say."

"Whatever dude, stop playing mister mommie."

Chris pulled in front of an apartment complex.

"Here we go. Get out Zac."

"No."

"Zac, get out of the car."

"I don't like this place."

"How do you know you don't like it. You've never been here before."

"Wanna bet."

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"Never mind it's nothing."

"I don't think it's nothing, why do you say you've been here before?"

"Nevermind Chris."

"Zac, are you telling me you've come here before."

"Sort of."

"Like what is sort of?"

"Like, we followed them home one time and then left."

Zac's brown eyes stared up into chris's. He had not really cared if Chris knew whether or not they had come there, not something he was proud of, but nothing bad.

"Okay Zac. You will get out of the car, and you will walk with me to the apartment, and you will be nice, and you will say hi."

Zac rolled his eyes.

"Fine, but if they start it I have every right to run real fast."

Chris shut his eyes and smiled. Zac. Strange kid.

"ZAC! GET THE DAMN DOOR!"

They had gone to school, not told anyone about it except one person, and by the end of the day, the entire school knew that they had been signed to Mercury. Wow. The grape vine worked, sort of.

Now, they were lucky if the phone stopped ringing, Zac had turned off the ringer, only to find that their friends wanted to come over. Was there no end to this insanity?

"I'M GOIN'!!"

Zac stood from the sofa and stumbled to the door.

"Stupid freaking people, what is there problem."

Zac was muttering as he reached for the door nob.

"They could leave us alone for two seconds."

Zac pulled on the door. It slid open with a brushing noise as the bottom made contact with the carpet.

"Holly shit!"

Zac stared out at something quite unbelievable, or at least to him.

"Woaaahooaaa! Man! Fuck!"

"ZAC!!! WHO IS IT!!"

Zac couldn't stop laughing. Pointing at the two figures on his porch and brushing his tangled hair out of his eyes.

"They are liars. You realize, they said we wouldn't have to deal with you, look at you, talk to you, natta. And yet...holly shit, your on my porch. Not a cool thing. You know, I'm thinking, that it would be fun to see how good you fight."

Zac Hanson's eyes went wide. He spun on his heel and started walking down the sidewalk to the car.

"Not so fast."

Chris grabbed his collar and pulled him back.

"Zac I presume?"

"Yeah, and you would be? Whoa wait...hanson...this would be Zac hanson....and then again...who would you be?"

Zac Dentra stood in the doorway tapping his foot and cocking his head back and forth.

"ZAC!!!! WHO THE HELL IS IT!"

"HEY MEY!! WANNA LOSE YOUR LUNCH!"

Cruel. He was being mean and nasty. Zac Hanson was completely terrified, not because of appearance, but because he had no idea if what this other Zac was saying might actually be true. And now this, this, thing, that called himself Zac was insulting him. Not a good situation.

"Zac? Mind you keep it down there a little."

Zac Dentra froze in place.

"Outta curiosity. Can we come in?"

"This isn't happening.....a hanson is not on my doorstep."

"Can we come in?"

Zac paused as in thought.

"Sure. Why not."

Still holding on to Zac hanson's collar, Chris walked into the house. Sliding shut the door behind them, Zac directed them to the sofa and headed towards the back of the house.

"Chris damn you, thanks alot."

Zac fell onto the sofa and slouched down.

"It's not going to be that bad."

Mercy entered the living room.

"Fun."

She took one look at the two people now on her sofa, and walked directly into the kitchen.

Zac walked out from the hall.

"Okay. Now for the tough questions. Why on earth are you at our house?"

Chris looked up.

"Well, just to meet you guys."

"Hmm. Just to meet us. Seems entirely too simple."

"Oh no. That's it."

"Sure it is. Not going to like...sing Mmmbop or anything are you kid?"

Zac hanson scowled up.

"Woah. Dude. Take it easy."

Raising his hands in a defensive stance, Zac Dentra walked toward the kitchen.

Leaning over to Chris, Zac hanson whispered.

"Chirs can we please go?"

"Wait a minute Zac."

"So, uh, do either of you want something to drink?"

Mercy was holding up a jug of lemonade and a jug of Dr. Pepper.

"I think we're okay. Thanks anyway."

Shrugging her shoulders, Mercy turned back around.

"Umm, can I ask you guys when your parents are going to be home?"

Zac stood up from behind the counter.

"Never. Leave it at that."

He bent back down to finish whatever he was doing.

Zac hanson looked at chris.

"Chris lets go!"

"Well, I guess it was nice meeting you guys...."

"Meeting us? Yeah, okay. Whatever. And little hanson boy, don't even say a word to your blond sisters."

Mercy had to say it. Had to say it outloud. To irrisistable.

"What's your problem with us anyway. Like you even know what were about. They aren't girls, they just look like them, so don't call them my sisters."

Mercy looked at Zac hanson.

"Wow dude. That was sooooo deep?"

She was grinning.

Zac hanson was looking at his hands, mumbling to himself.

"Stupid girls."

"Well. I think we need to go."

Chris stood up from the sofa.

"Do you think we could see you guys later, like, when all of you are here?"

Mercy stopped what she was doing for the third time.

"All of us are here. They are in Jem's room screwing with the stereo."

Zac hanson closed his eyes. Just great. They would be here forever.

"Do you think I could meet them?"

Mercy sighed.

"First off.....who the hell are you?"

"Oh I'm sorry, I'm Chris sabec, hanson's manager, and this is Zac hanson."

"I knnooowwwww, who he is. Follow me, Mr. Sabec."

Chris followed Mercy down the hall towards a closed door.

"Chris! Wait!"

Chris was already well on his way, and had not invited Zac to go with him.Zac flumped back down.

"So! What's up?"

Zac Dentra threw himself on the sofa next to Zac hanson.

"Why do you ask."

"I don't know. Just want to know."

"I thought your family doesn't like my family."

"Nope, just mey. Mey is like, the queen of hanson dislikers. I just think you all look like girls."

"Thanks so much for your vote of confidence."

"Aren't you like, hyper?"

"Hyper? Where do you get that?"

"I don't know. Just saw it or something. You usually bounce off the walls and act all weird."

"I do not."

"Do too. I see it whenever you're on Mtv."

"Mtv sucks."

"OH MY GOD!! A HANSON JUST SAID MTV SUCKS!! WHAT TO DO! your just now realizing this is true?"

"Shut up man."

"Don't tell me to shut up. Your in my house."

The music coming from the other room stopped.

"So then, Zac hanson. Where do you live?"

"Why on earth would I tell you where I live. You could tell your sister."

"Oh, like she'd listen."

"I live here duh."

"No!! Really?"

"Man, are you always this annoying?"

"Actually not really."

"So then, what's your last name again?"

"Oh yeah, sheesh, I sound surprised. I shouldn't have thought that my name isn't a household name like 'hanson'."

"It will be."

"Whatever."

The door in the back of the hall opened, and out stepped Chris and Mercy.

"Here comes my gaurdian angel."

"Why do you say that?"

"Because, I'm not sure if you could really hurt me or not."

"Oh yeah...I'm in the business of killing hansons...."

"That's what I thought."

Chris walked into the living room.

"So I see our two Zac's have been okay....no blood anywhere."

"Not yet. We were just getting to that."

Zac hanson smiled.

"Well then, sorry to break up this little conversation, but, Zac, we gotta go."

"Okay."

Zac hanson stood.

Walking to the door he turned back.

"What are you doing tommorow?"

Zac Dentra raised an eyebrow.

"Nothing, why do you care?"

"Wanna do something."

"Oh great. There goes my reputation. 'Zac Dentra hangs with a hanson. What will happen to his brain."

"Oh gee, loved you too."

"I didn't exactly say no."

"Well hurry up on the decision, cause I have to go."

"Sure. Come over after school. We'll see how what we can think up to torture Mercy."

They both giggled.

"So, it seems to me you two hit it off."

"Not nearly chris. Not nearly."

"Oh please. You were nice to him, he was nice to you, and you have plans for tommorow."

"It ain't over yet chris."
