Howdy! Welcome to The Official K.W. Bates Home Page, AKA "JUST AN ORDINARY GUY". I hope you enjoy your stay. Let's just get right down to business, shall we?
After completing an 8 year tour of duty as a sergeant in the U.S. Army (62E20P, Heavy Construction Equipment Operator, AIRBORNE) stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC and Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, I have hung my boots from a telephone wire and taken a position in the public education system. Quite a change, but a change I have worked hard to be ready for. Currently, I'm a special needs assistant to a 16 year old low-functioning autistic student. I hope to be teaching elementary level education in 2002. My on-the-go family consists of my beautiful young wife, Christy, daughter Megan, and son Austin. Christy is a Special Education teacher in charge of the autistic program at Pick Elementary School. I admire her patience and commitment and she is the light of my life. The girl is my best friend and she is THE example of a wonderful wife and mother. Megan is 10, and she's in to Girl Scouts, soft ball, and silliness. She is a very sweet girl, one of the best readers in her class, and is in her second year of Honor Choir at East Elementary School. I'm impressed with her desire to read her Bible; if only more people would want to do the same! Austin is 5, and in to... everything all of the time. Kindergarten has him all fired up and ready to go and should distract him slightly in the relentless pestering of his sister. Yeah, right... He is my "fishing buddy" and heir to my throne. I love my family very much and most days, I wouldn't trade any of 'em for nuthin'. If you'd like to see some pictures of us, click here.
I am a guitarist. I also suffer from G.A.S. (this illness is also known as Gear Acquisition Syndrome). I play a 1978 Gibson Les Paul, an early 80's Stewart McDonald custom Fender Telecaster, a 1999 Fender Lone Star Stratocaster, a Tacoma RoadKing acoustic, an Ovation Custom Balladeer 12 string acoustic, and I choose the Peavey Delta Blues 1x15 for 100% tube amplification. I enjoy playing Texas style blues and mix it with contemporary Christian music every chance I get. I love the outdoors and have a great respect for nature and it's creatures. I am obsessed with bass fishing thanks to my good buddy Thomas Lott. I enjoy nearly every type of bird hunting. I have been known to demolish a book on World War II, the Civil War, and anything on American History. I also enjoy reading the New Testament. I have been called a "web junkie" in the past. I disagree with this label and I think that once the new wears off, I will gain the ability to pull myself away from this thing and begin bathing regularly again.
If you start or end your day feeling empty and it seems like maybe you're missing something, give the Bible a try. It contains the only instructions for living that make any sense. It will help change your life if you allow it to. Let me take this opportunity to present Jesus Christ to you if you don't already know Him. John 3:16 will give you a great start point, and it says it all. Further research into God's Word will assist you in your quest for Truth should you choose to accept the challenge of being a Christian. And yes, it is a challenge, but one that is rewarding and worth while when one considers eternity. I can't claim to understand all of it, but I believe. One hope I cling to is that Jesus is coming back soon... very soon. (Don't believe it? Read the book of Revelation a couple of times and then watch CNN for a week or so. You'll see!) People, get ready - Jesus is coming!!! Some wisdom: Jesus has prepared a place for those who love and accept Him and a place for those who choose not to. What's your pleasure?

Ya got a minute? Some of the pages offered here are just for entertainment and some may give you something to think about (things that make ya go "hmmmmmm..."). Either way, make yourself at home! No further transmissions, but thanks for stoppin' in. Take care, and if I don't see you in this world, I'll see you in the next one... don't be late.

I lead a contemporary Christian blues-rock band called Inner Flame. Come meet my band and find out about this Christian music ministry.

Hey! You took the time to scroll down this far, so why not
It's important to me to know who has stopped by, and besides, I'd really like to see your page, too!

Also, feel free to email me about anything. Well, almost anything... I know absolutely nothing about physics, auto mechanics, or child birth and I've been described as a total failure in the areas of algebraic equations. However, anything else is fair game or I'll fake it.
