Cycles

In the beginning there was nothing
When light appeared out of the nothingness
Pulsing, thumping, oscillating
The rhythm of the universe was established.

Light is a shower in the desert,
The desert lays dormant in darkness
Until golden drops soak down
Opening its pores of life.

Rain is like the dawn,
The earth sits in total darkness
Until these golden rays of water
Flood our desert.

The dawn is a blossoming flower
The darkness of night is slowly overcome
As this golden bloom emerges from the horizon
Shooting out petals of sunshine.

A blooming flower is an explosion
In slow motion, buds tightly closed
On cue, unfold into a dazzling display
Of colors, shapes and designs.

An explosion consumes everything in its path
Though dazzling to watch, destruction is its fate
What was once buildings and homes, trees and bushes,
Are reduced to nothing but light.
