What Does H.A.L.O. Do?

Good question! H.A.L.O. does a lot of great stuff.
In May we have our annual Cinco de Mayo Celebration which takes a ton of hard work on all our members behalf to accomplish. This event usually includes a DJ, live band, awesome food, and a lot of support from the community. The last Cinco de Mayo had a great turn out and we were very pleased with the success of the event. H.A.L.O. knows how to kick it!
Also, we are involved in Hispanic Heritage Month. HHM is celebrated from Sept.15-Oct.15 During this time there are a variety of events that take place on our campus. Such events include: Latino Jam, a dance that our organization puts on for the entire campus and community, a speaker, in the past years we've had Jaime Escalante, and Gregory Nava, director of the movie "Selena". Feria Latina, which is a display of different latin american countries plus some great food and music. This is just a taste of what we do to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.
H.A.L.O. also takes an annual trip to Chicago for the United States Hispanic Leadership Conference. We take on average 10-20 members to the conference that takes place in October and they in turn to get to hear an extensive number of speakers, attend leadership workshops, and also hang out in Chicago while getting to know your fellow H.A.L.O. members.
H.A.L.O. also does a lot of social activities. In the past these have included: Laser Tag, going to movies, a canoe trip on which some of the members should have used a little more sunscreen, dances, and a lot more.
These are just a few of the activites that we take part in or host. Keep checking out the webpage for the latest updates!
