CDRs Trades In Progress

Information

OK, I don't have complete information on many of the discs until they get here. Tracks and times may be present and may be wrong. Also, you might see something that is coming in for my wife and not me...our tastes are not always the same...<G>.

If you want to secure a trade for an incoming disc, that is fine. Just realize that I am depending on the person to send it and it might take longer if they are overseas. Best to confirm the trade but not burn anything until it arrives. The ratings listed here are not mine...they belong to either an "official" page or to the person sending me the item.

Like my other lists, I only list CDs and CDRs. I have LPs and cassettes as well and there is always a chance that a tape is coming in to me in exchange for a CDR.

The trader writes:

A two disc set, with the same sets as the Crows' two studio albums, one disc for August, one for Recovering. The tracks were voted on by members of the CountingCrows-L, selected as the best live perfomances of each song with reasonalbe quality. I'd strongly recommend this set; there's some very cool versions here and it's interesting to compare track for track the Crows live verus the studio.

DBTW says:

The Jones Beach performance is presented here, in its entirety, for the first time on CD - "You Figure It Out" neglected "Eileen Aroon" & "Gates of Eden." Dylan's performance is on the money and the quality is excellent (though no better to my ears than "YFIO"), with vocals clear and upfront and the music nicely separated and distinct.

Conspicuous by its absence on CD until now - Dylan's exceptional Bridge Benefit '88 performance w/GE Smith. Somewhat disappointing is the board quality - although very good and thoroughly listenable, a better source tape would have been welcome.

Not finished yet, either - some very well chosen tracks from Syracuse complete the set:

RememberYou/great GrainOfSand/DontThink2X & 2 killers:OneTooManyMornings (when is it not a killer?) and barbara Allen. Nice quality, too.

DBTW says:

Let me go out on a limb and say that all things considered (recording and performance), this release is the best representation of what BD&Band sound like live. Quality of the recordings is superb and the performances are, well, words can't describe. It's like trying to describe one of Michael Jordan's best games - they are all so good but when he takes it to another level you are left speechless. Many will hear this and find their mouths agape with awe...others who were lucky enough to be there will know what to expect. You get the feeling that even BD himself "felt it" on these nights as he pulled out never and/or not-oft played Visions, GirlFrom NC, LicenseToKill (radical new epic arrangement), IfNotForYou, NeverGonnaBe TheSame (very moving), Unbelievable, and a "to-die-for" Knockin'. Not to mention the (IMO) definitive acoustic Tangled and a momentous MostLikely. No less impressive are the rest of the trax: Flood,Watchtower,Silvio, MrTMan,GodKnows,RainyDay.

DBTW says:

The complete Cardiff show presented in extremely good sound w/ upfront Bob vocals, great separation with the instruments clear, well- defined and balanced, and a nice overall warmth to the recording. Arguably the best of the 4 UK shows in October (see the reviews), and noted for the transcendent performance of BabyBlue and, IMO, an equally grand MyBackPages.

DBTW says:

According to Webster's, the definition of "benchmark" is as follows: "Something that serves as a standard by which others may be measured."Suffice it to say that (IMO) this set is the benchmark for Dylan soundboards. Yes, it's that good. Everything - mix, separation, balance, clarity, definition, fidelity - is stunning. I honestly cannot find one single negative criticism to level at it. The performance is top notch - To Ramona is a sparkling gem, full of vocal tricks and phrasing to die for - when he sings "....your sorrow duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuz steeeeeeeeeeeem" - wow! Dark and spooky readings of Cold Irons, I & I and even Til I Fell In Love w/You counter the tender emotions flowing through Big Girl Now and the rollicking opener Maggie's and hoedowny (?) "Tonight I'll Be Playing Here For You. The clarity of the acoustic instruments is startling and further illustrates the many subtleties and complexities inherent in Cocaine and Tangled. You feel like you're in a Mexican village restaurant listening to a mariachi band during the instrumental ending of "To Ramona." Try to suppress the ear-splitting grin. This one's a monster - don't you dare miss it!!!!!!

The title The Floyd's of London also contains this complete show. Meddler is the superior of the two.

Also, the titles One Of These Days and Echoes (which I already have) contain part of this show.

About the date confusion (from PF-ROIO):

This specific concert was played on September 30, 1971, but was broadcasted on John Peel's "In Concert" program on October 12, 1971. According to the booklet this was an entire performance in front of a live audience, which you can hear between every track (not in Echoes or One Of These Days, but rather in the Meddler version of this show - CDRs).

There are many CDs of this show with different titles, check PF-ROIO by date.
