DARRICK ANSWERS THE TANNERS (and other critics)

Why Anti-Mormons and Others Can Use Trojan Horses...
but "I" Can't!

by Darrick T. Evenson

This 3-Part Article Shall Do The Following:

In August 1991 Jerald and Sandra Tanner published Issue #79 of The Salt Lake City Messenger called 'Trojan Horses in Mormon Land' ; a purported expose' of me. This is my reply to that article.

Background

I joined the LDS Church in 1978 (Dec. 31), but soon ran into anti-Mormon literature. I left activity from the Church fo 17 months, and met several anti-Mormon ministers. I did massive research into their claims, and eventually could refute enough of them to come back into the Church. I then served a mission (California San Jose 1983-5). After my mission I wrote a book called _The Gainsayers_; which answered most of the major claims in the anti-Mormon "God Makers" film. That book was not published until 1989.

In late 1985 I heard over the radio, at work, that Mark Hofmann, a Mormon old documents dealer, had been blown-up in his car in Salt Lake City. During my research time I had highly suspected Mark Hofmann of working with anti-Mormons. When I tried to inform the Church of my suspecions, I was the one they said had 'problems'. Over the next few years I had more and more problems with Church teachings (i.e. God and Mary had sex together) and with the fact that 'The Brethren' (Mormon church leaders believed to be Prophets, Seers, and Revelators with the Spirit of Discernment) deliberate tried to hide documents that Hofmann had sold to them, and could not (after 6 years) 'discern' him as a fraud nor discern his 'finds'. This, plus other incidents, made me leave Mormonism for good in 1989. I did retain my belief that Joseph Smith was a Prophet; which eventually led me to the Baha'i Faith (which I joined in 1994). I did not formally 'resign' from the Church until 1996; when I was told that Baha'i law required an official resignation from any former religious or fraternal organizations.

In 1987 I met a fellow named "Lawrence" who was interested in writing an anti-New Age book. It was decided that I would write the book; to be called "Antichrist Unveiled". It actually put forth the ancient mystic Apollonius of Tyana as the 'anti-christ of the Bible, but it also was about the 'Lord Maitreya'; a New Age 'messiah' that was being promoted by a Scot named Benjamin Creme. I even went down to the Tara Center in Los Angeles (the Press Office of Creme) and told them, "I want to do a book on Maitreya and Benjamin Creme, can I do some research?" I never told them that my book was going to be anti-Maitreya. Nor did I say it was going to be pro-Maitreya. I'm sure they assumed it would be pro-Maitreya.

After months of research and writing, I submitted the book to various publishers; Christian and secular. I got 65 rejection letters. Finally, Huntington House Publishers (LaFayette, LA) expressed interest. They changed the name of the book to New Age Messiah Identifed. After I had signed a contract with them, Mark Trosclair (Huntington House is/was owned by the Trosclair family) wanted me to do extensive 'rewrites' of the book. Eventually, he wanted to turn the book into a sort of 'conspiracy-theory' with 'Troy Lawrence' (the pen-name I was using...since former Mormons cannot be published in Christian publishing unless they renounce Joseph Smith and the Church) was a former 'New Age leader' who came to see the light. I utterly refused to do this. I had many heated arguments with Mark Trosclair over the telephone. We finally 'compromised'. The book was rewritten by Mark Trosclair. One chapter is his in entirety. He removed a vast amount of material I believed was vital. Huntington House is a 'Christian' publisher that often specializes in sensational conspiracy-theory type books. Mark wanted to rewrite mine the same. I fought him for almost every sentence.

Eventually it came down to "we do this our way or we're out". I finally agreed. They charged me $1000 for Mark's 'rewrite' (because I would not rewrite it) and told me that until I paid them they would not release the book (the original) to me to be published by anyone else (I had no other takers anyway). I agreed. Just when the book was published they asked if I would go on tour with it. Lawrence could not because he had a family to support. Mark once asked me if anything strange happened during the research on my book. I told him that somebody once tried running me off the road, but I doubt it had anything to do with the book. He later wrote (without my consent or permission) on the back cover of the book that Lawrence had been the victim of "high-speed chases", etc. This was classic Mark Trosclair. Another man who wrote a book for Huntington House named Randall Bear died soon after in a car accident, and Mark told everyone that New Age secret agents had killed him and made it "look" like an accident. I believe it was an accident.

In any case, another author for Huntington House, Constance Cumbey, author of Hidden Dangers of the Rainbow, got upset that Huntington House was publishing my book, and not a new one she had written. She later checked on her computer (another story is different) and discovered that "Darrick Evenson" authored _The Gainsayers_; a pro-Mormon book. Mark and Richard Trosclair were LIVID, and threatened to sue me. I said something like: "You can't get blood from turnups!" They eventually decided to give me a 'cover story', and wrote a letter PURPORTED FROM ME TO THEM which said protected Huntington House. The letter is a PURE SHAM. I decided that when I spoke for my mentor, I would speak for him and his views; because this is what I was supposed to be doing. I was essentially a ghostwriter on radio.

In any case, Cumbey didn't let it die. The Trosclairs asked her to let it be, and she agreed; then broke her word. It came out that 'Troy Lawrence' was really 'Darrick Evenson'. Anti-Mormons today know exactly what happened, but they will distort it to the best of their ability in order to try to discredit me. But, as I told them before, I had no 'credit' with anti-Mormons; nor do I want any. They are LIARS from the beginning, and any insult from them is like a crown of glory to me.

I've decided to put this reply on the Internet; because it keeps coming up. I don't care if it comes up from Anti-Mormons. They don't care about the truth. But, a few Mormon apologists (whose egos I have bruised in the past) use it; as well as pro-Choice "Baha'is" who are angry at me when I post evidence on the Net that the Baha'i founding-prophets and interpreters were totally Pro-Life. Like anti-Mormons, if they cannot refute the arguments, they will attack the person. Here are my replies:

TANNERS:

"A great deal has happened since we began working on the last issue of the Salt Lake City Messenger. For example, on April 23, 1991, we were informed that Darrick Evenson, a Mormon writer who has worked very hard in an attempt to discredit our work, had been unmasked as a deceiver. Mr. Evenson now admits that he was secretly engaged in dishonest practices to gather information which he could use to discredit people or organizations he disagreed with. He, in fact, confessed that he used alias and a 'Trojan hourse' technique to carry out his questionable operations."

The Tanners then write about how Steven Mayfield (a.k.a. 'Stan Fields') was unmasked as "a Mormon spy" years before, etc.

DARRICK:

I admitted to everyone--from the beginning--that I infiltrated a New Age organization in order to gain access about the identify of 'Lord Maitryea'; a New Age Messiah. I wrote this in the very first draft of my book Anti-Christ Unveiled. I do not think such 'practices' are unethical; since the police, journalists, AND THE TANNERS use them all the time. I NEVER said I would not use such practices in my investigative-journalism. The Tanners have too, but deny they have; as we shall see

On page two the Tanners point out how I wrote to Robert and Rosemary Brown in 1981; offering my research services, how I wrote "The Gainsayers", etc.

TANNERS:

"Although we had to admit that Darrick Evenson made some points regarding excesses in what is often called 'the anti-Mormon movement', we felt that the claims concernign his affiliation and work with 'Ex-Mormons for Jesus' seemed somewhat nebulous."

DARRICK:

"I have NEVER claimed to have EVER worked for 'Ex-Mormons for Jesus'. I never told the Tanners I did. I did write in my book THE GAINSAYERS that I associated with them for months; which I did. They were suspecious of me from the start. I wasn't a 'spy' because I didn't know if they were right, or the Mormons were. I was in-between. They didn't know how to accept me. I never joined them, and never gave one dime to them; which I would have if I was trying to infiltrate' their organization.

TANNERS:

"In any case, Mr. Evenson began visiting our bookstore, and it soon became obvious that one of hismost important goals in life was to destroy our ministry."(p.4)

DARRICK::

I told them that I was doing research to refute their anti-Mormon claims. I told them that Day 1. Sandra told me, "Go ahead! Research all you want! It doesn't bother us!" I didn't want to 'destroy' their ministry. I wanted to find answers to repudiate their arguments. I tried to ask Sandra about sources, original documents, so I could find them and review them myself. It didn't take me long to discover that she is just the business person, and it is Jerald who is the researcher. I only met him once, and only for a few minutes. Sandra actually was usually very cordial, but she didn't know her 'anti' anywhere near I did, or you would expect her to know. Jerald is the brains of that operation.

TANNERS:

"He claimed that he was investigating us and had found evidence that we had been very dis- honest. Evenson maintained he was working hand-in-hand with Robert and Rosemary Brown and others who opposed our work."

DARRICK:

I asked questions. I did ask Sandra questions like, "You claim to have lost faith in The Book of Mormon in 1960, but a woman in Missouri says you joined their Book of Mormon believing church in 1962? What about it?" Sandra would smile and usually look away and say something like, "Well...that was a long time ago..I don't remember the details!" Getting a straight answer from Sandra was nigh impossible. The day I met Jerald I asked him about the First Vision (the Tanners say Joseph Smith lied about the First Vision because there was no 1820 revival). I asked Jerald, "Are you aware there was a revival at the Baptist stone church in Manchester in 1820?" He replied, "Yes". I asked, "Then why didn't you include that in your books?" He said, "That's NOT the point! The point is... Joseph Smith was NOT a prophet of God!" Very cool. Very calm. I replied, "But people reading your book will walk away thinking there was NO revival at all in the area where Joseph Smith lived in 1820! By leaving it out you LIED didn't you?" Didn't even phase him. He replied, "That's NOT the point...the POINT is that Joseph Smith was NOT a prophet of God!" Sandra was there, and heard it. Jerald nodded at me and walked away. The Tanners will deny it. Jerald has no fear of what he says to any Mormons; because he will simply deny it, and his followers will (naturally) believe him without question. I was AMAZED that Jerald didn't deny that he had LIED. He justified it by saying "That's not the point!" It is my word against there's. You'll have to decide for yourself. Read on.

TANNERS: They go on to say that I visited the Browns in 1989 and worked for them for a week but it didn't work out and that Mike Mistretta gave them (the Tanners) a lot of information on me, and he is head of Saints Alive/Ex-Mormons in Arizona and he needs financial help to continue his ministry.[ I actually visited the Browns in 1987 for two weeks, and no it didn't work out and I returned home. Craig Ray (a Mormon apologist living in Mesa) took a photo of me when I visited him, and Mike said he wanted to see a photo of me which he later gave to the Tanners. Mike Mistretta, of course, was later rebaptized into the Mormon Church and is now working on a book. He is now a Mormon Apologist.]

The Tanners then say that in order to 'divide' the anti-Mormon movement I visited their bookstore and told them that Ed Decker said he "had enough information on Jerald to put him away for life" and I offerred Sandra evidence that Decker was living immorally and would she be interested in it?

TANNERS:

"Sandra said that she was not interested in receiving the material."(p.3)

DARRICK:

Bull! She said (and I remember this as clear as day) "I don't care. Sent us the stuff if you want but we can't promise we'd ever do anything with it!"

At that time the Tanners were in a feud with Decker and James Spencer; who had written a book with Bill Schoebelen (Decker's former assistant in Saints Alive). Schoebelen and Spencer had produced a booklet called Mormonism's Temple of Doom which had some Mormon/Mason parallels, but then got 'weird' and started to make false and exaggerated claims about Mormonism and Satanism, etc. The Tanners produced a rebuttal to that book, and they did several EXPOSES of William Schnoebelen:

1) Covering-up Syn (an Issue of the Salt Lake Messenger)

2) The Lucifer-God Doctrine

To make a LONG story short, when the Tanners criticized the booklet Schnoebelen and others started criticizing the Tanners; eventually calling them "liars" and "secret agents for the Mormon Church" in order that the Mormon Church could 'control' anti-Mormon research. In response to this the Tanners EXPOSED Bill Schnoebelen as a LIAR EXTRORDINAIRE! I would quote from them, but their exposes' of Schnoebelen speak for themselves. Schnoebelen was an occultist who joined the Church in 1981 pretending to be a former Catholic priest, and then in 1983 he became an Evangelical claiming that he was a warlock and joined the LDS Church because all Satanists and Warlocks considered it the 'highest' Satanist organization. Schnoebelen also claimed many other things; including that an LDS apostle told his wife (a witch) that Lucifer was the true God of the Temple. In any case, Schnoebelen LIED to Mormons in 1981 (when he joined the Church). He was never a Roman Catholic priest. Anyway....just order the book The Lucifer-God Doctrine. It only costs a few bucks and read it for yourselves.

The Tanners then quote Decker:

"About four weeks ago I got a phone call...it was Darrick on the phone and he..said that he was working as a research assistant for Robert and Rosemary Brown..that has been his story for years with us... At any rate, he called and said he had some very serious fiflth about me and that he was going to expose...that he had control of it and that Jerald and Sandra Tanner had been in contact with Robert and Rosemary Brown to aquire this material to expose me as a phoney, and to show what an evil life I had..and I said, 'Darrick..there's nothign in my past that I worry about and if you've got some garbage go ahead and publish it'...Darrick said, 'I'll scratch your back if you scratch my back...I have the ability to get rid of all this information away from the Browns and the Tanners if you promise that in a little while, in a week or so or a few days something is going to come out about me and you have to keep your mouth shut. If you open your mouth, I'm going to reveal this. And I said, 'Darrick, you're blackmailing me.'" (pp.4-5)

DARRICK:

BOGUS!!!!!! He got about 30% of that conversation right! The rest is PURE BULL!!! I did call up Decker because Constance Cumbey said she was going to call him. I'd written a book for Huntington House Publishers called New Age Messiah Identified. Cumbey discovered on her computer that I wrote The Gainsayers (defense of Mormonism). She demanded that Huntington House DROP ME or she would tell Decker and others that I (who wrote a pro-Mormon book) was "Troy Lawrence" author of a "Christian" book exposing the New Age Movmenet. Huntington House said they couldn't do that cuz they spent many thousands publishing it and it had to go out. They spoke to me and asked me if "this Decker" would be a problem. I knew that Decker and the Tanners were still at each other's throats. The Tanners had produced a booklet called SERIOUS CHARGES AGAINST THE TANNERS in which they accused Decker of LYING about several issues: one of them about being poisoned by Masons (or Mormons) in Scotland. I knew Decker hated me because I worked with the Browns (nor 'for' them, but with them) and I didn't want him preventing the book from being released.

I called Decker, and I told him that if he messed things up for me I would make sure that the Browns sent the Tanners information about his numerous affairs with young women; LONG after he claimed to become a Born-again Christian. I DID NOT tell him that the Browns were in contact with the Tanners. I DID say "You scratch my back, and I'll scratch yours". In other words, if he hit me, I'd hit him. If he respected MY space, I would respect his. And...guess what folks....HE AGREED!!! He presents himself as saying that he had nothing to hide, but adds, "You're trying to blackmail me". Bull. Never happened. He was very cordial and agreed and said something like, "Darrick, there's no reason we gotta be enemies here!"

Again, it's my word against his. Don't trust my word? Then don't trust HIS either. Get a copy of SERIOUS CHARGES AGAINST THE TANNERS (Utah Lighthouse Ministry). I plan to eventually put that 40-page publication online. It isn't copyrighted. They quote Decker saying that the Tanners were "dishonest researchers" and then they show how Decker LIED about being poisoned with arsonic, and LIED about a quote he used from _The Daily Herald_ newspaper concerning "The God Makers" film and LDS Church statistics. After exposing Decker's LIES in that book the Tanners write:

"While we are sorry we have to say this, it seems there are some who will accept any wild story or theory if it puts the Mormons in a bad light. They reason that since they already know that Mormonism is false, it is all right to use anything that has an adverse effect on the system. The question of whether an accusation is true or false appears to be only a secondary consideration." (Serious Charges Against the Tanners, p.47)

Get their booklet yourself and decide for yourself.

I must say THIS about Decker. He told me he wasn't going to say anything (he was scared that his post-born-again affairs would be revealed) and HE KEPT HIS WORD. Decker didn't say ANYTHING about me until long after the Christian press had. He Decker said anything, I would have asked the Browns to send that material to the Tanners and everyone else I could think of. Of course, I can't say if the Brown's would have done that or not. Rosemary especially is fickle as hell. They also told me that several of Decker's girlfriends were later threatened by him and others after I revealed to Decker the Browns had material on him.

The Tanners then say they did not negotiate with the Browns for any material on Decker. This is TRUE because the Browns never negotiated with them regarding such material. Decker LIED when he claimed I said they were. I said no such thing. I said the Browns had it and I would "make sure" the Tanners got copies of it if he said things about me. Decker's statement is LAUGHABLE. The conversation didn't go that way at all. The only true statements was about the back-scratching. And Decker AGREED!

TANNERS: The Tanners then write that I got into a heated argument on Mormonism vs. Christianity and that I used foul language and called a woman in the store a Lesbian. I've actually gotten in 4 or 5 heated arguments with idiots in Sandra's store. I even called people "asshole" and "idiot" a few times; if they dist me. I am always respectful of people, but when they disrespect me (always because I refute them) then as far as I'm concerned, I can do the same to them. But that day I wasn't arguing with those women. One DID look like a bull-dyke. She was a former Mormon, and I asked her if she was a Lesbian. She looked at me strangely, and it was SANDRA (not the woman) who jumped out of her seat and said, "OK...that's IT...you're outta here!!!" I was in her store many times after that incident. At that time I was ghostwriting a book on the Gay rights movement, and also had met some "Lesbian Mormons" at a Sunstone Conference. I admit what I said was rude, but whenever people insult me (as they sometimes do when I refute their arguments) I sometimes insult them back.

TANNERS: The Tanners quote The Inner Circle (an anti-Mormon tabloid) which states that I claimed "to have been a member of Ex-Mormons for Jesus, there is no record of his membership in any of the chapters of that organization...". DARRICK: I have NEVER claimed to have been a member of Ex-Mormons for Jesus or any other anti-Mormon organization. Read my book The Gainsayers. What page number? Where do you get that I ever claimed this? This is a straw-man technique. THEY make a false claim, just to knock it down.

TANNERS: Constance Cumbey claims that I told her that it was HER book that brought me out of the New Age movement, and that in a conference call with Mark Trosclair I claimed that I denied that I had "ever been a Mormon".

DARRICK: Cumbey is a LIAR. I never said any such thing to her. That was Mark Trosclairs attempt to advertise her book (Huntington House sold hundreds of thousands of copies of it) in mine. I shall prove she is LIAR by calling several respected Evangelical witnesses to that fact later in this reply.

TANNERS: The Tanners write that "one of Evenson's associates" claimed that I felt that I could be financially secure for life because of the book NAMI.

DARRICK: What 'associate' is that? Why don't you name him? I never told that to anyone. One book alone cannot set up anybody for life unless its New York Times run-away bestseller for years. No such associate.

TANNERS: The Tanners write that I appeared on Al Kresta's radio show and denied being a Mormon, and confessed to using different names and that I called Constance Cumbey a "nut" and spoke disrespectfully of her.

DARRICK: I was NOT a Mormon in 1990. I'm still not. Many people in Utah call themselves "Mormons" who don't live the Gospel, nor do they attend Church or believe it. I don't believe in calling yourself a "Mormon" unless you are active in the Church. To say I was a 'Mormon' because my name was still on the records of the Church is like saying that 3 million Mormons in South America are really 'Catholics' and they are duplicious because they didn't have their names removed from the rolls of the Catholic Church. Kresta had used deception, and did not tell me that he spoke to Cumbey or that such questions were going to come up. I did tell Kresta that I was using a pseudonym, which HE WAS TOLD long before our meeting.

[NOTE: Al Kresta later converted to Roman Catholicism, which means, to most Evangelicals I know, he is destined for eternity burning in Hell. Good luck Al!]

TANNERS: The Tanners write that I told the radio audience that Constance Cumbey told me over the phone that Moody Bible Institate was a Mormon front, and that Jerald and Sandra Tanners were really Mormon secret agents, and that Cumbey heard me say that and called in spontaneously.

DARRICK: Cumbey had called Kresta from information she got from the Huntington House press-office. She knew I was going to be on his show that day. It was her little set up. She LIED about just hearing me and calling in. Cumbey DID in fact tell me all those things, and more, as shall be revealed in this reply. At that time, Ed Decker and James Spencer and Loftes Tryk had been writing and saying that the Tanner's were 'Mormon double-agents". All this is revealed in Serious Charges Against the Tanners published by them.

TANNERS:The Tanners then write that I provided a letter to Huntington House where I wrote that my being a Mormon "has been greatly exaggerated". Part of it reads:

"If I am a Mormon, or a Mason, or a New Agers, or just a guy out for a buck or a laught, then Huntington House cannot be blamed....

DARRICK: PURE BULL!!! If you think I wrote that, then I got a bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to sell you...twice!!! This is Mark Trosclair's attempt to try to distance Huntington House from me. THE LETTER IS BOGUS. I told people as far back as 1991 to produce the letter. I always sign mine. Eric Pement of Cornerstone Magazine told several people they had 'lost' the final page...you know, the one with my SIGNATURE on it! Call up Huntington House (LaFayette, LA) and ask them for a copy of it. Others have tried. I even had my dad call to try to get it. Call around and try to get this letter purportedly from me. If you can, let me know.

TANNERS: The Tanners say that I wrote in The Gainsayers that I accepted the Lord at age 15, but what I wrote in New Age Messiah Identified that I became a Christian in 1984, and this is a contradiction and that in 1984 I was serving a mission in California.

DARRICK: I did in fact become an Evangelical when I was 15; at a Pentecostal church in Santa Monica, California. I did serve a mission in California in 1984. Mark Trosclair rewrote the work. One chapter is entirely hisown creation.

TANNERS: The Tanners write that 'Troy Lawrence' met Pat Matriciana (head of Jeremiah Films and maker of 'The God Makers' film) at a prophecy conference in 1989 and told him that I'd been converted after reading Gods of the New Age in 1985, by Pat's wife Caryl.

DARRICK: Bull! I've NEVER been to a 'prophecy conference' in my entire life! I did call Pat Matriciana in 1989 to look at the manuscript. He did, and loved it. He recommended iit to Harvest House Publishers; who decided not to do it. I later worked for Pat Matriciana doing research in 1992; while he was fully- aware that I still believed Joseph Smith was a Prophet, and that I was thinking of becoming a Baha'i. This was AFTER he became aware that I was the author of _The Gainsayers_. I have great respect for Pat M. I feel that I may have influenced him to stop making films for Ed Decker.

TANNERS:

The Tanners review my interview on Al Kresta's show. What they DON'T mention is the Huntington House publicist told Kresta that he couldn't interview me if any questions about my true identity came up. Kresta AGREED. Then, Kresta called Constance Cumbey, and they worked up a 'plan'. Kresta wouldn't bring it up, but Constance would pretent to be listening to the show at work, and call in, thus Kresta would be 'free' to ask me about it, since he kept his 'word' that he wouldn't bring it up.

Can you SMELL the hypocrisy?

TANNERS: "Besides these contradictions, Darrick Evenson also referred to his own Mormon religion as one of the 'cults' that teach false doctrines."

DARRICK: That entire chapter was written by Mark Trosclair. I told Mark before the book was rewritten by him (I should say BUTCHERED by him) that I had been a Mormon. I did NOT tell him that I wrote a defense of the LDS Church. That is true. After I saw he rewrite I didn't object to his calling Mormonism a 'cult'. One thing that prompted me to leave the Church was, after 10 years of research (sacrificing college for it) to find answers to anti-Mormon claims, I was told by the Missionary Dept. leaders and by Elder Dallenbach (Seventy) that my effort was wasted time because "anti-Mormonism" actually "helped the Church" and they had done studies about this. I asked to see the study. They said, "It's confidential". I asked who did the study, and they said, "That's not for the public!". So, I didn't mind, because the LDS Church leaders and functionaries believe it is helping.

TANNERS: In their chapter "Non-Profit?" the Tanners quote Ed Decker that I was involved in a "fraud" trying to rip people off because I set up a non-profit organization called S.P.R.G. They first quote Decker as to it didn't exist. Then they find it did, and somebody sends them a photocopy of the Articles of Incorporation (this could only be Martin Tanner...the lawyer who incorporated it in Utah). Then they show how the book advertised World Crusade Journal and told people that donations to S.P.R.G. were tax-deductable, but this was "fraud" because the non-profit corportation was not registered with the I.R.S. They write, "...no organization using that name has applied for tax-exempt status. It would appear, therefore, that unless Mr. Evenson can come forth with some evidence that there has been a mistake, he is involved in a fraudulent operations which is against the law."

DARRICK: If there was ANY "fraud" involved in the S.P.R.G. then the Tanners would have found it. It would be as easy as contacting the Office of the Attorney General of the State of Washington (which I'm sure they did). Had I the foundationary funds to start such a Journal then I would have registered. I couldn't get the collateral; so no Journal was published. NO FUNDS WERE RECEIVED! You can check with the Attorney General of the State of Washington. The Tanners make a statement which is basically 'If he took funds for this then this is fraud...he must give us evidence that he did not!' Proving a NEGATIVE is hard to do. Rather, the Tanners must PROVIDE EVIDENCE that I did. Otherwise, their statement is FALSE.
