Joseph Smith Jr. (1806-1844)

"There are those of the rising generation who shall not taste death til Christ comes." (Joseph Smith, General Conference, 6 April 1843, quoted in The Words of Joseph Smith, p.179)

"I prophesy in the name of the Lord God, and let it be written, that the Son of Man shall not come in the clouds until I am 85 years of age, 48 years hense, or about 1890." (The Revelations of Joseph Smith, p.345)

NOTE: The Baha'i Faith is a worldwide independent Religion with over 7 million adherents. It was founded in 1863, in Baghdad, Iraq, by Baha'u'llah ("bah-HAH-ool-LAW), a Persian nobleman who is a direct descendant of King Cyrus of Persia and King David of Israel. The Baha'i Faith is headquartered in Haifa, Israel.

The Baha'i Faith came out of Islaam.

In the Baha'i Faith, as in Islaam, there are three types of people who receive Revelation from God:

Major Prophets (Razools)
Minor Prophets (Naabees)
Seers (Muhaddases)

A "Muhaddas" is NOT considered to be a "Prophet" major or minor, because in the Baha'i Faith (as with Islaam), a Prophet is sinless. A "Muhaddas" (Seer) is an ordinary sinful human being who nevertheless receives divine Revelation and the visitation of Angels. In Arabic "Muhaddas" means "One Spoken to (by an Angel). They are NOT called "Prophets" but rather "Seers".

Shoghi Effendi (1897-1957), the "Guardian" (Interpreter) of the Baha'i Faith, and the great-grandson of Baha'u'llah (founder of the Baha'i Faith) referred to Joseph Smith as a "Seer" with "high standards".

Baha'is do not recognize Joseph Smith as a "Prophet" minor or otherwise, but as a "Seer".

The Baha'i Faith is an independent World Religion with over 6 million Believers worldwide. It was founded in 1863, in Baghdad, Iraq, by BAHA'U'LLAH (bah-HAH-ool-LAH); a direct descendant of King David and King Cyrus of Persia, whom we believe was the promised SPIRIT OF TRUTH, the incarnation of GOD THE FATHER on Earth.

In the Muslim year 1308 A.H. (March 1890-March 1891) Baha'u'llah made His "Great Anouncement" to the World that HE was the Promised One of all religions, on the slopes of Mount Carmel, in the Holy Land. He claimed to be:

*The Spirit of Truth promised by Jesus who would "teach us all things" pertaining to the Kingdom of God.

*The Return of the Prophet Ísa awaited by Muslims.

*The Shah-Bahram awaited by Zoroastrians.

*The Fifth Buddha (Maitreya) awaited by Buddhists.

*The Messiah ben David (Reigning Messiah) awaited by the Jews.

The Seer Joseph Smith

The great-grandson of Baha'u'llah, Shoghi Effendi ("shaw-khee ef-fend-dee") declared that Joseph Smith, the founder of Mormonism, was a true SEER who had high standards! (Memories of 'Abdu'l-Baha, Baha'i Publishing Trust, 1980, p.117)

In the Baha'i Faith, as in Islaam, a "Prophet" is an inspired man who is "infallible" and a "Seer" is an inspired man or woman who is "fallible" but who receives true visions and revelations from God. Thus, Baha'is consider Joseph Smith to be a "Seer" but not a "Prophet".

Joseph Smith prophesied ("praw-fes-side") that the "Son of Man" (Holy Ghost incarnate) would unveil His Face, in the Holy Land, during the years 1890-91. Joseph Smith made plans to leave the Church in the hands of another, and to sail to the Holy Land with Orson Hyde (an apostle who had already been there), and stay in the Holy Land until the Son of Man came and unveiled His Face sometime during the years 1890-91; when Joseph Smith would have been 85 years of age.

During the years 1890-91, the Church had a Branch in Haifa, Palestine, called "the Haifa Branch of the Turkish Mission" (Palestine was a province of the Turkish Empire at that time).

We testify that the Holy Ghost came down, and unveiled His Face in the Holy Land during the years 1890-91; just as Joseph Smith had prophesied!

In 1817, in Írán, was born a Davidic Prince, a direct descendant of King David, a Man of royal Jewish and Persian descent. He was born Mirza Husein Álí Núrí (Arabic: "Prince Kindness Exalted of Light"). He claimed to be the incarnation of the Holy Ghost. He later received a New Name, that of Bahá'u'lláh (Arabic: "The Glory of God").

Because of His claims, Bahá'u'lláh ("baha-HAH-ool-LAH") was believed to be a heretic, and was exiled from Persia to Turkey, and finally to Palestine.

In 1868 He was exiled to the Turkish prison city of Akka, Palestine. In 1890 He was released, and ascended the north slobe of Mount Carmel in Haifa, and made His Great Announcement to the world ("The Tablet of Carmel").

Joseph Smith said that the Holy Ghost was "now in a state of probation". He said that in 1843. A "state of probation" means a mortal, earthly life.
