Down In The Underground

Interesting Facts about Labyrinth

For anyone who has ever wanted to get away, to escape...this movie is my favorite for lots of reasons. This movie represents everything I've ever dreamed of or wanted. To be in a world of magic, to have a special quest, to not have to deal with reality ever again.

In 1986 the movie Labyrinth opened in theaters, directed by Jim Henson, produced by George Lucas, starring David Bowie as the Goblin King and Jennifer Connelly as Sarah. Sarah is a young girl, about 14 or 15, who wishes her little brother Toby away. Jareth, the Goblin King, grants her wish and takes Toby away. To rescue her brother from becoming a goblin in the Labyrinth Sarah must solve the maze and get to the castle in the center, face Jareth and save her brother all in 13 hours. Pretty tall order for a slightly immature, bratty teenager.

Labyrinth is a movie I hold dear to me. I love it, and it's what turned me on to David Bowie's music. The movie also has a novelization. I'll have up links to a transcription of both the novel and the actual script, thanks to the Herculean efforts of Stephanie Massick. And on the "How You've Turned..."page I have audio clips from the movie and songs. So enjoy, and feel free to download and save anything you like.

Also, for anyone who loves to write Labyrinth, or any other kind of stories, my Depths of the Crystal forum is open to you. Write stories, leave me messages, anything you want. It's a free for all (within reason, as I can't be going to jail or paying fines y'know...college is expensive.)

My page is kinda modest at the moment, but I'm working on making it better. So if anyone has any pics or wav files I can use, I'd be most grateful. Til then, peruse my meager library here. Hope you enjoy...and don't get lost...:)
