***** PHAT CD- Must Buy
**** Pretty tight CD- Good to buy
*** Aiight CD- Some good songs, but not best buy
** Not that good but propz cuz itz a No limit CD
* Shouldn't BE a SOULJA!
Magic- Thuggin ****
The sophomore project from Mr. Magic, THUGGIN' is all that and then some. It's 19 bangin tracks straight bringing the heat with guest appearance from those tankdogs Master P, C-Murder, Silk the Shocker, Mia X, Mac, QB, Ms. Peaches and the new No Limit artist DIG. In addition, there is the always solid production from Beats by the Pound and a new wave of production from Deadly Sounds and Suga Bear. The soldier from the 9th ward, Magic gives you an extremely rounded album touching on a wide range of subject matter from straight thuggin to party anthems like Wobble, Wobble with Mac. Magic also showcases his uncanny talent in the art of urban storytelling on Freaky featuring Ms. Peaches and the song Good Lookin Out featuring DIG. The latter song has the dynamic duo coming off like Gotti and Gambino, a sort of ghetto mafioso. They paint a vivid picture of the mean streets of the N.O. Master P also takes a moment out of his ever busy schedule to get his shine on with the song Ice On My Wrist, and of course who better to do it than the 361 million dollar man. The album also gives it up for the Man upstairs, on Thank You Lord for my Life. Magic reflects on how we always seem to overlook how good we really have it, in contrast to how many people really are suffering in the ghettos worldwide. My personal favorite has got to be We Gon Ride with C-Murder, the hype track will surely have the Range Rovers and the Lexus jeeps bumpin straight into the 2 triple zero. Overall, THUGGIN' is one of the best No Limit albums of '99, it caters to several different audiences with a very varied subject matter. This album is a good indication of the direction of No Limit for the new millennium. REVIEW by Wild Wayne.
Fiend- Street Life ****1/2
With all 17 tracks of this CD being produced by Beats By The Pound, this is a PHAT CD. Even though not many (6) souljaz appear on the CD, Fiend's tight rapping makes up for it. He hits you with PHAT songs like THE ROCK SHOW,TRIP TO
LONOD,AK'N BAD,TALK IT HOW I BRING IT,I WAS PLACED HERE,THE TRUTH IS,THE
DON'T HEAR ME!. Most of this CD is pretty tight, and only a few bad songs. Fiend shows alot of the people who criticise him how he can flow and rock the mic, and he deserves alot of credit for this new CD. Best song: Mr. WHOMP WHOMP.
Mercedes- Rear End ***
This album is a decent album, but because it has been advertised for 3 years, people expected better. Mercedes provides a good mix of r&b and rap, but her rapping doesn't impress you much. Her lyrics are average and her flow is normal, nothing that really catches your eye. She has a great voice, and it should've been expressed more on the album. Also, of the 23 tracks on the album, 7 are skits. These skits are hilarious, and make the album alot better. The album is pretty much all about sex, so for those lookin for a good album to bump to, this is it. Although this isn't the best release by no limit this year, I recommend for all you people TRU to to no limit to get this CD. Otherwise, get TRU or Snoop Top. *Favorite Track- "Kiss Da Cat." Review by Mercedes Thug.
Snoop- Top Dogg
****1/2
With this album, you could definitely tell Snoop was tryin to go back to his Westside roots of Death Row days. With many G-Funk tracks produced by Dr.Dre and other West Coast producers, the beats remind you of Doggystyle. Not only does Snoop have tight songs like that, but "Ghetto Symphony" features many no limit soljas in the mix as well, and it is one of his tightest songs. People didn't give Snoop enough credit for this CD, but if you are down with that old school style of Snoop in his gangsta days, mixed with the tightest No limit tracks mixed in, imagine that. One more less bad track and Snoop gets a 5 stars. But for all you real rap fans from West side days, this album will be hot for ya. DEFINITELY a must buy, I mean DEFINITELY. *Favorite Track- "Ghetto Symphony"
No Limit Allstars- Compilation ***
This CD was made with intentions for people to bump it while ballin, and it is definitely what peeps are doin. The tight fast pace of the album lets you work out and play bball to it, which is what Master P wanted. But some no limit fans were lookin for another tight album with a variety of souljaz and songs, like other no limit albums. This album features a few souljaz, and has some tight tracks. The album could've been better by adding more new songs or more old no limit hits combined. The songs on it are tight, it just has something missin. 3 stars for an average no limit performance, but peeps will keep bumpin it. *Favorite Track- "Bball"
Mr.Serv-On- Life Insurance ****
I give this album 4 stars. This is one great album. Possibly no limit's most
under rated soldier, Mr Serv-on was not really recognized 4 this album for
some reason. He has a very good rhyming skill which comes accross well on
this album. It has a tight set of lyrics and a hot line up of soldiers
including Master P, Mia X, TRU, Brotha Lynch Hung and Mstikal. It has some
extremely meaningful cuts on it such as "It's real" and "Tryin' 2 make it
out da ghetto", which is the one song on this album which pinpoints the whole
feel of this album which vividly describes Serv-ons life. Such a good album
should have been much more popular than it has been described as and is a
must have for everyone who is a TRU No Limit fan. The best track on this
album shared between "It's Real" and "Time 2 check my Fetty". Well worth your
money. Review done by Ms.Sheek.
Mystikal- Unpredicatable ****1/2
This album is by far the best and probably the most famous of Mystikal's
albums. With his fiery style whitch is impossible not 2 fall in love with
alongside some of the Phattest Rhythems that beats by the pound haveever
produced this album has a winning formula. An album can basically be descibed
in several ways. Mad ghetto, mad playa, mad gangsta and mad balla but some
how Mystikal & P have managed 2 encorperate all of these styles into one
excellent album. It also contains a sequal 2 one of my favourite songs, "Who's
got the clout", which can be fond on Mia X's unladylike. This track is called
"We got the clout", and by using Mia on this track has made an obvious link
between the 2 songs without making them too similar. My favorite tracks off
the album are "Born 2 be a soldier" and "Murda 2". Be sure to pick this one up. Review done by Ms.Sheek.
Kane&Abel- The 7 Sins ***1/2
This album was released in 1996 but it could easily be mistaken for an earlier release. This is because of it's feel which was similar, I felt 2 that of one of MP's earliest releases "Married 2 the mob" by Sonya C. This is not necessarily a bad thing though as this album was very ghetto and not mainstream. A great debut was provided here by beats by the pound with some totally orginal cuts like "Gangstafied" with P & Mo b dick and "Basement Session" whith featured appearences by Mia X & 2 female rappers (Skandalus and Steph) who did a great performance, but i have not heard of since. It does not offer a wide range of styles as they are all very gangster themes but rest assured that this is still worth picking up. Favorite track-"Basement Session". Review done by Ms.Sheek.
Mia X- Mama Drama ***1/2
This album is pretty tight and a great one to add to your collection if u r a
fan of no limit. There is a totally different feel to what you may be
expecting on Mia's third album. He styles and lyrics have matured and developed a great deal since "Unladylike". This has some mad ghetto cuts like
"Bring it on" the first track of the album. We see some of mama's more
mainstreem flava's like "Whatcha wanna do" & "Imma Shine" on this particular
contribution 2 no limit, but she still holds it together with some of her
stereotypical gangstsa flows on "I think somebody" with Fiend, where the
percussion has cleverly been replaced with gun shots. Bringing in a non no
limit soldier Fat Joe 2 bust on "What's ya point" has also given a new
dimension to the album, dealing with the issues of hate between the three main
regions of rap with a little help from Snoop Dogg. People that appear include Master P, Silkk, Snoop Dogg, C-Murder,Mystikal, Fat Joe, Fiend, Mac, Charlie Wilson among others. Favorite Track- "Whatcha Wanna Do?". Review done by Ms.Sheek.
Mia X- Unladylike
I think that this album is worth 5 stars and is possibly my favorite no
limit release comparable 2 the likes of shell shocked and the shocker.
Perhaps the most gangster bitch of all, momma mia really proved she was just
as good as any of the other male soldiers out there with this one. It
contains elements of her first release "Good Girl Gone Bad", but with a twist
of what mia is best knwn for which is her unmistakeable fow mixed withsome
phat rhythms from beats by the pound. With appearances from Master P,
Mystikal, Silkk, TRU, C-Murder, Mr Serv-on, Big Ed, Mo B Dick, Fiend, Mac, Kane & Abel, Mercedes, and even a colllaboration with Foxy Brown on the
track "Party don't stop", this album gives you a lot for your money. My
favorite tracks include "Who's got the clout", "I pitty U" & "You and Me". Review done by Ms.Sheek.
Master P- Get away Clean ***1/2
This is P's 2nd album, I love it but all of you might not like it as much
as me. Great songs like: Saxophone, get away clean, DANA YOU CAN BANG HER, just
perving are the best on there. The back of the cd is all screwed up songs
like some songs ain't listed like just perving & no limit. The #'s of the
songs are screwed up too. The song low down & dirty is busting on the N.W.A.
people like King G, Chill Powdah, Spill, TYC, G-Man(all old members of Tru). Get away clean is Hard to find so if you ever see it, pick it up.
FAV SONG: "DANA YOU CAN BANG HER."
Master P- 99 Ways To Die ****
This is master p at his best. P is just str8 Gangsta with song's like 17 Reasons, Rollin thru My hood, 99 ways to die, and 1-900 master p. This album is Featuring many "Original" no limit rappers like King George, C, silkk, Rally ral, E-A-SKI, & BIG ED. a\Also it has phat producers like ea-ski, lil'ric, K-LOU(my favorite) master P him self & a lot more. Go get it if you like when P was more Gangsta- one of the best no limit albums ever. Favorite song: "PLAYA WIT GAME."
TRU- Da Crime Family *****
Even though this album has had many mixed reviews by the media, saying how no limit is ripping songs off of other people and stuff like that, most no limit fans like it. In fact, this is what one fan said (others may feel differently)-I just love this album! I heard every song like 10 times and they all are 5 stars. A 2 disc cd with 14 one disc & 15 on disc 2. So out
of 29 songs I think ONLY 1 of them is bad. With song's like: Millerboyz, Hail Mary , Soldier Till I Die, Don't fuck wit Tru, Tru Homies & The tank goes
on(just to name a few of the best).God this is a great cd it don't even need
the other no limit soljas on it. All of the TRU album's are the best no limit
cd's just add DA CRIME FAMILY to the list. Got to get this NOW!!!! If you're a
true no limit fan, don't think twice! *Favorite Track: "Soldier Till I Die."
Mo B. Dick- Gangsta Harmony ***
This first solo album by mo b dick is basically R&B and rp mixed. It is an alright CD, but it contains that same tiresome sound of no limit. However, the R&B brings a new aspect to no limit as well. He does a great job vocalizing, and the Beats By The Pound team coulda produced some better beats, cuz some of em clash with Mo B's vocals. But i definitely give props to Mo B. Dick for hookin up a tight first solo, next one should be even better!!
C-Murder- Bossalinie ***
This new C-Murder CD isn't as tight as expected, but it is still pretty good. It has gotten mixed reviews. Most of the wack reviews came from the song on Bossalinie that copies 2PAC's song almost EXACTLY. Many say Life Or Death was better. However, different from Life Or Death, this CD has a better variety of artists feature in the songs. It has some souljaz in it, at the same time it also has a bunch of non no limit peeps as well. It is definitely a tight mixture of songs and different from other no limit albums. It has some tight songs, but it could have more. It is a good deal for 28 songs on 1 cd. If you are TRU to no limit, you should get this, but just be aware that it is not as good as other no limit CD's in the past. *Favorite Track- "Like A Jungle"
Master P- Mama's Bad Boy ***
This was Master P'S Second solo CD under No Limit/In-A-Minute Records. The whole CD was produced by classic and the best producers like Master P, E-A-Ski, and CMT. This CD has some of the old original nl rappers like Cali-G, Markest Back, Daniel Fry, Sonya-C, King George, and Fonzo. It mixes funny songs with classic rap songs. The funniest ones are "Psycho Rhymes" and "Ohhh Sh*T". This is when P first started out and he was young, and he was still gangsta. This sound of no limit is what captured the audience, and these are some of the tightest raps ever. On the back of the cover it says "Unauthorized Duplication Could Get Your @ss kicked." Just thought that was funny. Favorite Track- "Mama's Bad Boy"
Mr.Serv-On- Da Next Level ****
Mr.Serv-On didn't get as much credit as he deserved before this album, but after people heard this album, they recognize his great rapping ability. It is full of tight songs like "Tank N*ggaz", "Boot Em Up", and more. He features many nl soldiers as well as some non soldiers, such as Big Pun. On this CD, Mr. Serv-On shows how he can rhyme and also how fast he can rap. The lyrics are tight, and the raps have a very tight beat to them too. The only reason this CD didn't sell better is because it was in the middle of the nl slump. This is a very good album to have and I recommend it to all the nl fans who like that style. *Favorite Track- "Best Friend 2" and "Boot Em Up".
Silkk The Shocker- Made Man ****
This one from Silkk is a very PHAT CD. It has alot of mafia-type stuff in it, but then it breaks down into that soldier style again lata in the CD. It also throws in a little G-Funk, old school thang with "Get It Up," his song with Snoop. Most of the best songs are slow, R&B songs, with a hip-hop beat- like "Somebody Like Me" and "I Want To Be With You." Also, Silkk shows his versitality and skill when he raps with people like Jay-Z, Mya, and also some soldiers. This is definitely a must buy CD, and this one will be a classic. The reason it got only four stars is because it has a few strange, badly mixed songs like "Mr.99" and "No Limit." But you should definitely buy this CD! *Favorite Trackz- "We Can't Stop" w/ Master P and C-Murder, "Somebody Like Me" w/ Mya.. I Got The Hook Up!- The Movie ****1/2
This movie is very funny. A.J. Johnson and Master P make a great combination as Black and Blue, two ghetto hustlers tryin to make it rich. These 2 will definitely make you laugh, and you will want to watch this movie over and over. Also, this movie gotta have some girls in it, and believe me they are fine. Also, with guests appearances from many other celebrities and soldiers, such as Mia X and Mystikal, it just tops this movie all off to anotha No Limit Classic! Mystikal-Ghetto Fabulous ****1/2
This is a tight CD and you can really feel Mystikal's flow and energy. He slows it down right when you think he's gettin faster, and then he ends the CD with a PHAT track with Mac, Silkk, and Fiend. Also, mystikal shows his wide range by doin songs with non-no limit people like his songs "Dirty South, Dirty Jerz" with Naughty by Nature and "Whatcha Want, Whatcha Need" with Busta Rhymes. If you thought busta and mystikal were PHAT by themselves, wait till you hear em together! This is a MUST HAVE CD, and I would definitely give it 5 stars if it had a few more varieties of beats. *Favorite Track- "What's Your Alias?" TRU-Tru 2 Da Game ****1/2
This CD is probably what got no limit fans likin no limit. The most famous no limit songs came from this CD, like "No Limit Soldiers," "I Always Feel Like," and "I Got Candy"- those are just a few. This is definitely a PHAT CD, and the only reason it is not 5 stars is because it is kinda old and you have probably heard most of the songs. But this CD is an example of great rap and also what no limit is all about. So if you bout it, go get this CD- it is a collectors item everyone should have. *Favorite Track- "I Got Candy" Master P-Ghetto D ****1/2
A PHATT CD with kickin songs that make u move and dance, f/ C-Murder,
Silkk, Fiend, and Mia X. From "Ghetto D" to "I Miss My Homies" w/ the
original "Make 'Em say UUUGGHH!" Definetly worth buying for the Master P fan and for your ultimate collection. Also, there are a few otha PHAT songs like "Only Time Will Tell" and "Bourbans and Lacs." This CD even features Chris Tucker! Be sure to buy this one, itz tight. Reviewed by PSPDLC1052. *Favorite Track- "Only Time Will Tell" Fiend- There's One in Every Family ****1/2
I think Fiends first NoLimit album "Theres 1 in every family", is
one of the greatest nl albums ever. Fiend can majke u feel what he sayin
with his deep dark voice!. In songs like "Going Out Wit A Blast" or "The Baddest". Best Songs Are "Take my Pain", tight song wit P, SIlkk, "Going Out wit A BlasT", tight solo song."Whatcha Mean" and "We Survivors"!! Man If u aint got this cd already, go get itASASP. I give Fiend a ****1/2. This review was done by Go2War504. I Got The Hook Up!- Soundtrack ***1/2
This CD is pretty tight, and it features non- no limit artists workin with no limit artists. They mix up the flow of the raps, rather than "UGHHH!" every song. Like you get to hear a west-coast flava with Ice Cube, MJG, and Eightball, and then the cajun no limit style of Master P, Mac, Silkk, and the other soldiers. This CD could use some more variety tho, most all of the songs are fast, groovin songs rather than slowin it up. It is not too much different than you're average compilation, but it is a very good CD and you should think about buying it. *Favorite Track- "Hook It Up" Kane&Abel-Am I My Brothers Keeper ****
This CD is a very PHAT CD, and I would recommend it to all. It has a lot of tight trax, and it has a different flow than alot of otha NL CD's, so it isn't as borin as listenin to the same "UGHHH!"'s like on every other CD. So be sure to check dis one out, cuz it is worth buyin. Kane&Abel show their difference from other soldiers and they mix up the songs a little. They have slow songs with voices, and then fast songs with tight raps. You will never get tired of this CD. *Favorite track- "Ghetto Day" and "Time After Time" NO LIMIT SOLDIER COLLECTION- LIMITED EDITION ****1/2
Most of you haven't heard of this CD unless you have a blockbuster music near you that carries em. It is a limited edition CD put out by No Limit wit a bunch of their greatest songs on there. Itz just a compilation CD to let people know bout em. It was released in June 98, but you can still find em in Blockbuster Music stores... This is a PHAT CD, and has songs from MAC, Master P, Youngbleed, Silkk, Down South Hustlers, TRU, etc. All the songs on there are pretty PHAT, especially "How ya Do DAt", "Just Be Str8 with me", "I always feel like", "Ice Cream Man", and "I'm Bout It." SO fo all you that have a blockbuster music near you go and get dis CD now. Itz tight and everyone should have it.*Favorite Track- "How Ya Do Dat" THE GAMBINO FAMILY-GHETTO ORGANIZED ****
Gambino family tore it up wit their first release "Ghetto Organized." They got a bunch of PHAT songs wit C-Murder, MAC, Mia X, MAster P, and da otha soljas. Gambino got a flow of their own, kinda like Ghetto Commission and Prime Suspects combined. But they got their own kinda thang and itz tight. Then Also in this CD it features QB on a song, so it gives you a chance to hear some of his rappin. But this is a fo sho buy and I would recommend it to ya'll. C-Murder is PHAT in dis CD, so fo all his fanz, i would reccomend it to you to. You can catch one of their songs on video called "Childhood Years." *Favorite Track- "To All My Thug N...." PRIME SUSPECTS-GUILTY TILL PROVEN INNOCENT ****
This is a very PHAT CD. It has cutz wit MAC, Master P, Silkk, C-Murder, Lil' Rowdy, and many othaz. Some of the good songs are called Last Days, and their title cut. Also, for those not yet with the CD, they also have an ILL song on Mean Green called "For ya Troubles." If their CD had that on it, it would be a 5 star buy. But i would still recommend buyin dis CD. Definitely propz on Billboard Charts. *Favorite Track- "Last Days" MEAN GREEN PRESENTS- MAJOR PLAYERS COMPILATION ****
This is definitely a CD worth buyin ya heard me? It hit #9 on Billboard. Itz got some TIGHT Tracks on there from MAC&Fiend, Master P, Silkk, Too Short, Mack 10, C-Murder, Prime Suspects, The Commission, 2-4-1, and a couple otha No Limit Peeps. It has a lot of Slow, old school-ish beatz behind some new bumpin Rapz. It is a tight CD and a FOOO SHOOO buy.. It also gives you a chance to hear some songs from artists on No Limit comin out with Cd's soon (Prime Suspects, The Commission, 2-4-1). So if you got enuf cash, go out and buy it now it is a PHAT CD. I expect No Limit to get a lot of propz fo dis one... *Favorite Track- "For Ya Troubles" Silkk- The Shocker *****
Some say this is the BEST solo no limit CD ever. Silkk made his entrance into the rap world with a bang, and claimed gangsta from the start. This CD was full of tight songs, and they were produced by a mix of Down South and West Coast producers. Some of these are the producers later to become Beats By The Pound, as well as those like K-Lou, and Ken Franklin. These producers lay down some of the phattest ever on no limit, and Silkk provides his best rhyming and flow ever heard by him. MUCH better than his next two albums. If you get any Silkk CD get this, one of the best albums ever on no limit. I recommend everyone buy it if you see it. Favorite Track- "I Ain't Takin No Shorts"
MASTER P- MP DA LAST DON ****
Da Last Don is a PHAt Cd that has some cuts featuring Silkk, C-Murder, Mystikal, Mia X, Snoop, and many more souljas. Most of the songs are pretty PHAT, and the songs that aren't PHAT are still worth listenin to. The singles released from this CD so far are Thinkin Bout You, Goodbye To My Homies, and THUG GIRL. This CD is definitely worth buying- especially cuz P hookin it up with 30 songs for $16. *Favorite track- "Eternity" and "Welcome To My City" MAC-SHELL SHOCKED *****
This CD is full of tight cutz from MAC featuring Soulja Slim, Silkk, Mystikal, 241, Master P, MAGIC, Fiend, and otha Souljas. MAC has MAD SKILLZ. MAC is all Real, and his lyrics are what he lives. With 22 songs, i gotta say bout 20 are worth listenin to. This is probably one of tha best CD's I have ever bought, and I would recommend it to EVERYONE to buy. I gotta give my boy MAC some propz- He got a TIGHT cd. He is definitely one of my favorites now after i got da CD. *Favorite Track- "Slow Ya Roll" and "Murda Murda Kill Kill" Big Ed- The Assassin *****
Big Ed's first release on No Limit was PHAT. He has a lot of tight songs like Rodeo, Make Some Room, My entourage, Go 2 War, and I'm Yo Soldier. And almost every song is PHAT, and I liten to em all. He has appearances from MAGIC, Silkk, Master P, and a few other souljas. I have had multiple opinions on this CD, but mine is that if you are down with buyin great rap CD's, buy it. *Favorite track- "Go 2 War" and "I Miss Em" MAGIC-SKY'S THE LIMIT **
Magic's CD was the first CD produced by TRU RECORDS, a branch of No limit in which C-Murder is da Prezident. This CD had appearances by the newest souljas (Graveyard Soldiers, LADY TRU), also appearences from the veterans such as P, C-Murder, and Mystikal. It only had a few decent songs, and the rest weren't that good. Even tho this CD wasn't good, MAGIC is much better when he features on other CD's. You should not buy this CD unless you have a collection of No limit CD's or you want to start one of TRU RECORDS. *Favorite Track- "Chastidy" C-Murder ***1/2
This CD is Aiight, but could use a few more PHAT cutz. It has 5 or 6 good songs, and the rest are aiight. Some people (like Me) say he sounds like anotha 2PAC, and this CD showz it. His newest single off that CD is called "Makin Moves". Similar to MAGIC, C-Murder is alot better when he features in songs. C-Murder is one of my favorite soljas, and this CD is worth buying. *Favorite Track- "A 2nd Chance" Soulja Slim-Give It 2 Em Raw ***1/2
Soulja Slim's CD is very TIGHT and i recommend it to everyone. This solja is TRU and has MAD skillz. He'z got some Tight @$$ cutz w/ otha soljas, and a PHAT song called No Limit Party. Most of the songs on this CD are aiight, but he could use a few more PHAT beats. This is still a pretty PHAT CD tho, so if you are a no limit fan and have a collection, go get it..*Favorite Track- "No Limit Party" SILKK-CHARGE IT 2 DA GAME ***1/2
Silkk's CD is pretty good, but not as PHAT as some others. He has some good songs like "Ain't My Fault," and "Just Be Str8 With Me." He features alot of No limit peeps in it too- like Mystikal and P. This CD is definitely worth buyin, and I wouldn't want to not have it.*Favorite Track-"Ain't My Fault"
