January 2008 Meeting
Club voted to move Oct 2008 tournament from Oct 11 to Oct 4. There was already a Federation tournament on N/S Center on Oct 11 which is the reason we could not keep our previously scheduled date.

ATTENTION for discussion next meeting. We will be discussing the TOC "buy in" option at the next club meeting. For 2008, those buying in must have been a club member in 2007 and have fished atleast 1 tournament in 2007. These guidelines were for the 2008 TOC, and guidelines need to be set for the 2009 TOC early so those planning to exercise this option are aware of what they need to do.

The addition would be adding "(b) Failure to fulfill required obligations as desribed in the by-laws, fish off and tournament rules." and previous (b) would be changed to (c).

Additionally, the club discussed donating money to the event. We will discuss this further at the next meeting so please think it over and bring you thoughts on the amount.

July 2007 Meeting
Couples tournament is this Sat at Lake Winona from 8-12. Lunch to follow. Bring a dish to pass.
Nick has crankbaits for sale.
Yvonne and Paul stopped by for a St Judes presentation. The shared with us that ALSAC (the fundraising branch of St Judes) has raised $580 million dollars in the last year. There are now 1 million volunteers and 32,000 events. We are part of something that is just AWESOME!
Further discussion was had about the "Buy In" option to the 2008 State TOC. The vote passed (see June meeting notes) last month, but it was expressed that the many would like to see more voluntary involvement beyond what was voted in from those taking advantage of the buy in. Discussion on the future buy ins will take place this winter.
Chisago hours are 6-3. $45 + BB non boater gas fee. Meet at WM north at 3:45 to leave. Those interested in staying up on Sunday contact Jamie Warner.

June 2007 Meeting
The next club meeting is moved to Wed June 27th.

Yvonne from St Judes is planning to attend the next meeting to recap the St Judes tournament. Per our discussion, we plan on donating $200 back to St Judes. E-mail Chuck for further details if needed.

Let Chuck know if you are interested in participating in the TOC Rules committee with him. There will be 2-3 meetings prior to the Oct Federation meeting.
49% of clubs can participate in the 2007 State TOC.
Jay Hanson and Kyle Bellefy have dropped from the June tournament. Greg Halleland has added in. Check the boat ramp for the new pairings. Greg is last boat.
Drew for Chisago tournament July 23. Check the boat ramp for pairings.
Rick expressed that he has plans to use the buy in option for the 2008 State TOC. It is believed that others will want to take this option as well. Since our decision to allow this in the previous year was only good for 1 year, we had further discussion before voting in once again. The consensus was that the club does not mind the buy in, however the goal of the club is to learn from each other and teach one another. Thus the group all felt that some participation in the club must be a requisite before buying in. Since the season has already started, the proposal was that those buying in must fish atleast 1 tournament in the previous year as well as have been a member for atleast 1 year in order to buy in. This rule passed and is good for only 1 year. More discussion will be had on this subject in the winter (for future years). The group expressed that the requisite should be higher (2 or 3 tournament, possible meeting attendance) for a full year, so this decision needs to be made before the season begins.
May 2007 Meeting
St Judes / Dick Hiley tournament is this weekend (May 5 & 6). Please get with Tim if you can work if you have not done so already. Sat AM workers be at the ramp at 5:15 AM.

Re capped the rules for fishing the rice at 2007 State TOC.
MNBF will have raffle for 18.5' Skeeter boat and 150 HP motor.
RICE: The Rice can be fished HOWEVER
NO part of your boat may touch the Rice.
You cannot idle, troll, or push pole through the rice to get to an open area.
If someone is harvesting, which may be during tourny, you may not fish near them, defined as anywhere in the same patch even if they are 100 yards away.
The Boy river and other streams may be fished up to the point where they meet the roads only.
Rice in the river has same rules.
If you or your partner are in the Rice you are DQ'd. Partners are required per rules to report any infractions.
Officials and DNR will go over this again at Tournament meeting.

January 2007 Meeting
No Federation news as there was no meeting.
Next Federation meeting is Jan 20th. Steve Holets will be our rep for that meeting.
Only a few members had paid dues before this meeting. Phill has sent in $160 to establish us as a club at this point. Make sure you pay your dues ASAP.
The ZVBM Party is to be held at Fisherman's in on Jan 27th. HH to start around 6 or 6:30, Dinner to follow. Currently we have about 22 people expected to be there.
We will once again meet at the VFW for our Feb meeting. Mike Kepp and Matt Pretzer will be having meetings and the new Eagles Club before then and they will let us know how it looks at the Feb meeting. We can then decide if we want to stay at the VFW or changes locations.
Rick mentioned that he would like to fish the State Tournament in 2007 similar to what he did in 2006. After taking attendance, it seems he will get to go without having to deal with the special buy in similar to last year.
Currently only Matt Pretzer, Chuck Campbell, John Stears, Rick Billings and Tim Allen (as alternate) are a YES to attend the State Tournament. We need a definite yes by the February meeting as to whether you want to fish state or not.
Brent Haimes proposed to the club that we might want to put a 2008 State nomination in before March 3rd. After some discussion, the majority of the club didn't want to do so. Look to maybe discuss again at Feb meeting and put a vote to it to make it official.
We had a lengthy discussion on the TBF presentation Rick Pelletier gave to us last meeting. There seems to be pro's and con's from everyone for both TBF and B.A.S.S. It was decided that since anyone can join TBF under the umbrella club at this time, that the club does not need to make any decisions just yet. We'll continue to let things play out this year and revisit again when we need to make some decisions.
Next meeting Feb 7th at VFW.

Rick Billings let everyone know there will be a fun tournament on Sunday Oct 15th taking off from Wabasha. 7:30 until ?
Reminder that the Minnetonka tournament hours are 8-4 and we'll be leaving from Maxwell ramp.
September 2006 Meeting
Greg Halleland joined as a new member.
KFAN dates for 2007 are May 5th and 6th.
State Tournament Info - Staying at Sandy Beach Resort, Cabins 16, 17 and 18. Bring towels.
2-Day Info - Thanks again to Steve Holets for setting up the lodging. We will be staying at Indian Point Resort (on Indian Point Rd). Tournament times are 7A-4P on Sat and 7A-2P on Sun. Bring towels. Steve will provide Chili one night. Feel free to bring food for all for a night if you'd like. Please let me know if you plan to do this so I can note it here.
Mark Porter (per Brad), Chuck Campbell and Dan Christopherson spoke about their winning patterns on N/S Center.
Discussed and passed new amendments to the constitution concerning lake voting and changes. Will add that info here if provided by Matt Pretzer.
August 2006 Meeting
State Team paperwork for Gull Lake this year is past due. If you have not given your information to Matt Pretzer, please do so immediately.
Matt Pretzer (per Chuck), John Stears (per Brent) and Brent Haimes spoke about their winning patterns on Waconia.
Jamie Warner recapped the couples tournament this year. Another great event and a big thanks to John and Rheta (for organizing, not kicking butt). This is a fun time. Let's make a big effort to have more attend next year.
Matt Pretzer spoke about the new proposed constitution amendment. I will add this once I receive it from Matt. This change will be voted on in a winter meeting. Bay Lake won the vote for a new 2 Day location. The dates are September 23 & 24.
We had some discussion on the weigh in process used at Waconia. The method used was to find Brent and weigh in any fish that might be in danger on his hand held through out the day. There was some concern on if this was the best process to use. In the future, we may look at changing to a measure tournament if the need arises. However, the best step as agreed by anyone is to prepare better and not have a July tournament longer than 8 hours if we are to weigh in fish.
Note that the next meeting will be August 30th at the Elks if we get the OK from them. State tournament overlaps with the scheduled first Wed in Sept so this change had to be made.
Note - Multiple changes to the North / South Center take off. Jason Smith also had to drop. Please see the BoatRamp for the latest take off order and pairings.
July 2006 Meeting
Jay Hodge, Brad Gravenhoff and Steve Holets spoke about their winning patterns on Forrest Lake.
Reminder that the Couples Tournament is July 22 from 8AM to 12 PM.
The biggest item of the item was a vote to suspend the rules of amending a tournament. There are very few people planning to go to white fish for various reasons. With the DNR putting the Rice off limits, even fewer plan to go now. The new lakes to be voted on next month for the Sept tournament are Pokegama, Bay and Whitefish. Matt Pretzer to provide details of the action that took place. I will add that here when I receive it.

Thanks to Mike McNeilus for the newsletter notes for the June meeting in my absence.

better tourney next year. It was suggested that we could work on this in
more detail during a winter meeting.
Team Captain Matt Pretzer handed out rules and entry forms for this years TOC on Gull Lake. Matt asks that you complete and return these to him at the 7/5 meeting.
Next we brought up the 6/10 Forest Tourney. It was noted that Larry and Chris had dropped out. This put Phil and Jason together, they will now be boat # 11.
Then we voted on times, 6am -3pm won. It was noted there will be a Musky Contest Saturday also starting at 6am,with a guesstimate of 30-40 boats. KFAN News - Tournament preparation is on track, but sponsors are still needed. Please let John know if you have any sponsor opportunities. Also, Tim Allen needs to know your availability to work the KFAN (May 6/7) but NEXT meeting.
John Stears mention that he and Rick Billings may try and get Jimmy Johnson, Mark Fisher and possibly another angler to put on a seminar to help raise money for St. Judes / KFAN. He will keep us informed.
Rick's buy in proposal passed in the last meeting, however particular's were discussed at this meeting. Rick is buying it at spot #5 (just below the team), thus is any changes occur the list will be affect from bottom up. Mike McNeilus is the last member of the team and stated he has no problem with this. The club will review how this years "trial" goes with Rick and a decision will be made next year to decide if this is something we want to keep in place or not.
Almost all the dues are in. Speaking with Phill, every one but Jeff Becker, Stan Larson, John Algyr and Adam Baker have paid or made arrangements to pay. Please contact Phill to get these paid as the roster in due by March 31st.
Mike Kepp, Chuck Campbell, Brent Haimes and Todd Osweiler will likely not be at the April meeting and want to be in the draw for the April tournament.
Lastly, Kyle Bellefy joined us at the March meeting and is interested in joing the club. We will be voting on his membership at the April meeting.

Federation Report:
BASS vs. FLW details: Currently there are no contracts to be signed so it's just a waiting game. MN Federation has not set any deadlines to make any decisions so we are currently in a "hold pattern". More news to come.

ZVBM Christmas Party - Jan 14th @ Fisherman's Inn - 6PM Happy Hour - 7PM Dinner
Buy in for 2007 State Tournament passed.
There will be a meeting in Wabasha on January 24 to discuss Mississippi River refuse proposals. John Stears presented the noted changes for Alt E. Some of the high points are below:
- smallest group of users seem to be who the proposal is geared towards.
- reduced many of the no access zones to no wake zones, however there are still some no access zones.
- several areas still electric motor only (Schneiders, Area 42, etc)
- Alt E showed slack on types of baits that can be used
