On September 11th, 2001, America was suddenly and deliberatly attacked by the terror forces of Osama Bin Laden. The Terrorists were able to hijack 4 airplanes. Here is the timeline of when everything happened. All times are in EST.
7:58am: United Airlines flight 175 departs Los Angeles, carrying 56 passengers, 2 pilots, and 7 flight attendants. The Boeing 767 is hijacked after takeoff and appparently diverted to New York.
7:59am: American Airlines flight 11 departs Boston for Los Angeles carrying 81 passengers, 2 pilots and 9 flight attendants. This Boeing 767 also is hijacked and apparently diverted to New York.
8:01am: United Airlines flight 93, a Boeing 757 carrying 38 passengers, 2 pilots and 5 flight attendants, leaves Newark, N.J., for San Fransisco.
7:10am: American Airlines flight 77, Departs Washington's Dulles International Airport for Las Angeles, carrying 58 passengers, 2 pilots and 4 flight attendants. The Boeing 757 is hijacked after after takeoff.
7:45am: American flight 11 from Boston crashes into north tower at the World Trade Center in lower Manhattan.
8:03am: United flight 175 from Boston crashes into South Tower at the World Trade Center.
8:05am: President Bush, reading to children in a classroom in Sarasota, Fl, is informed of the first crash by White House Cheif of Staff Andrew Card.
8:18am: Federal Aviation Adminisration shuts down all New York area airports.
8:20am Bush, still in Sarasota, makes a statment promising to hunt down those responsible for the attack.
8:21am: Bridges and tunnles leading into New York City are closed.
8:25am: All domestic air flights are grounded by Federal Aviation Administration.
8:40am: Trading on Wall Street called off.
8:45am: A third plane, presumably American Flight 77, crashes into the Pentagon.
8:58am: A passenger locked in a bathroom on United Flight 93 uses a cell phone to report a hijavking under way over Pennsylvania.
9:00am: The South Tower at the World Trade Center collapses.
9:05am: The White House is evacuated.
9:10am: A large section of the Pentagon collapses.
9:10am: United Flight 93 crashes into a wooded area in Somerset County, PA. 80 Miles Southeast of Pittsburgh and 85 miles Northwest of Camp David, the Presidental retreat in Maryland.
9:25am: Incoming transatlantic flights are diverted to Canada.
9:29am: The North Tower at the World Trade Center collapses.
Midmorning: The Capitol, Supreme Court, Pentagon, CIA, Treasury, State Department, and other government buildings are evacuated. Other national landmarks are also closed, incliding The United Nations building in New York, Chicago's Sears Tower, Disney World in Orlando, FL, and NASA's Kennedy Space Center.
10:18am: American Airlines confirms that 2 of it's planes are missing.
10:59am: United Airlines confirms that 2 of it's planes have crashed.
11:00am: The President leaves Florida aboard Air Force One and flies to Barksdale Air Force Base near Shreveport, LA. The First Lady was taken to an undisclosed bunker near Washington. The Vice President Dick Cheney and National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice go to a secure place in the White House.
11:00am: U.S. borders with Canada and Mexico are partially closed.
Noon: Bush goes on t.v. in Louisiana and vows to punish the attackers.
12:30pm: Air Force One leaves Barksdale AFB, taking the President to Offut Air Force Base in Nebraska for a teleconference with his National Security Council.
1:51pm: The Navy dispatches Missle Destroyers and other equipment to New York and Washington.
2:00pm: Bush arrives at Offut AFB.
5:00pm: Explosions shake Kabul, Afghanistan; U.S. denies involvment. The country has been shielding Osama Bin Laden, a terrorism mastermind linked to the attacks in New York and Washington.
Evening: President Bush returns to Washington.
8:00pm: President Bush addresses the Nation on television, saying the attackers will be brought to justice.
These attacks sent America into a turmoil. Later after the attacks we went out looking for Osama Bin Laden and his troops in the Al Queida. We could not find him or them because they were hiding in caves like all cowards do. He couldn't even come out and fight. He had to kill over 3,000 innocent people and then run and hide. We will find you and you will be punished for the crimes you commited against the American people and other countries. As A patriot I swear this to you.
