PUPPY UPDATE, July 30, 2007: Today Sabra's pups turned one week old. Although Sabra tends to be a rather protective mom while her pups are little, today we did finally have the opportunity to examine each one and to take pics. Several's eyes are already starting to crack open. They have been spending most of their time lying down sleeping, when they aren't hungry, of course. But once their eyes are fully open, they will become adventurous and playful. Will try to get the new pics in the web site soon. Leaving tomorrow on vacation for a week.

PUPPY UPDATE, August 6, 2007: Just got home from vacation last night - special thanks to our neighbors (the owners of Sheltchow Puppy #3 from Litter #1) for doing such a wonderful job taking care of our many animals for us. We are so amazed at how much the little ones have grown and changed! They all now have their eyes opened and have become quite playful with each other. My daughters kept trading off which puppies were brought inside the house last night. All the puppies are so incredibly cuddly and make the cutest sounds. We will plan on having new pics of the pups into our web site by this evening.......

PUPPY UPDATE, August 23, 2007: Sorry I haven't kept up better with the updates! I don't know where the time goes..... The "little" ones have been growing quite a bit. They are little "butterballs," just like the sheltchows usually are. The past few days they have figured out how to get out of their little fenced in area and are enjoying having more yard to romp around in. Playing is a big thing for them right now, although there are still LOTS of naps in between! My younger daughter already has a favorite (she always does....) - #1, who currently is the largest pup and the lightest in coloring. She brings him in the house a lot to cuddle with him on the couch and she made him a little bed in a box that she puts him in sometimes. He is quite receptive to all the attention, very calm natured. So far the pups in this litter seem pretty quiet, with little if any barking. Their tails are already curling up against their backs. Their dark shadowed markings are getting lighter, as is the redness of their coat. They now have some of their baby teeth and have been eating some of the food in Sabra's dish. I will plan on getting new pics in the web site soon.....

PUPPY UPDATE, September 12, 2007: The babies are getting so incredibly cute. The are so very playful with each other, play wrestling with each other, and playing tug together with stuffed toys. They are always full of tons of licky kisses and love to be held and cuddled. They also make some of the funniest noises that are hard to describe. Most of these pups are very friendly and seek us out for love and attention. Puppy #2 was quite a stinker this evening, having me play a game of chase several times around the yard before catching him for pictures. He seemed to think it was all pretty funny :-) Puppy #6 is a bit reserved, but we will keep working with him. Puppy #5 is a little scared to be held, but otherwise friendly. The largest pup is Puppy #1, while the smallest pup is Puppy #3. Puppies #2 and #7 are also pretty small. Puppy #6 is almost as big as Puppy #1. Puppy #2 is the only pup with a white tip on his tail. Some of the pups are more reddish than others - Puppies #2 and #3 are both pretty dark red. Puppies #1 and #5 are perhaps more of a creamy red. Puppies #5 and #7 both have quite a bit of color variation in their faces, with cream around their eyes. Several of the pups have varying amounts of white on the fronts of their necks - Puppy #6 has the most amount of white, and Puppy #2 has quite a bit also. We will be taking the pups to the vet soon for their first set of shots.

PUPPY UPDATE, September 16, 2007: We met a nice family last night who came by to look at the pups. They were taken with Puppy #5, and today came back and took him home with them.

PUPPY UPDATE, September 19, 2007: Today I took the remaining pups to the vet for their first shots and preventative dewormer. All checked out to be in good health. Puppy #1 continues to be by far the largest pup, and weighed in at 14 1/2 lbs.! Puppy #3 continues to be the smallest pup and weighed in at only 7 lbs. So, quite a weight/size variance among the pups. Puppy #2 weighed in at 9 lbs., Puppy #4 weighed in at 12 lbs., Puppy #6 weighed in at 13 lbs., and Puppy #7 weighed in at 8 lbs. Based on their current weights, I would estimate that Puppy #1 will likely grow to be around 70 lbs. Puppy #2 will likely grow to be around 30 lbs. Puppy #3 will likely grow to be around 25 lbs. Puppy #4 will likely grow to be around 60 lbs. Puppy #6 will likely grow to be around 65 lbs. Puppy #7 will likely grow to be around 25 lbs.

PUPPY UPDATE, October 1, 2007: Met a nice family this evening to show them Puppies #3 and #7. After much debate, they chose Puppy #3 and took her home to join their family.

PUPPY UPDATE, October 13, 2007: Today we flew out Puppy #1 to his new home. It's always sad for us to leave a puppy there at the airport, knowing the puppy doesn't understand and no doubt feels abandoned. Plus, we just come to love them all so much, especially my younger daughter. Puppy #1 had been her favorite from this litter. Visited with his new owner on the phone for quite awhile today, as she is a repeat buyer (they also purchased Puppy #4 from Litter #1). We know this puppy has gone to a wonderful new home, and the new owner has wriitten a couple times about his progress and sent several pics. Always good to see a puppy look so happy in its new home.

Now just three puppies left, Puppies #4, #6, and #7. Puppy #4 is very friendly, loving and cuddly. Puppy #6 is a big boy, very furry and pretty with the large amount of white on the front of his neck. But he continues to be quite shy and will require a patient new owner who's willing to devote a lot of attention to him in order to establish trust. Puppy #7 is very small and pretty with the cream circles around his eyes. He is a little shy, but warms up quickly. He is very cuddly, too.

PUPPY UPDATE, October 22, 2007: Took the three remaining pups to our vet today for their second set of shots. Puppy #4 weighed 21.4 lbs., Puppy #6 weighed 24.8 lbs., and Puppy #7 weighed 13.8 lbs. All continue to check out to be in good health. We sold Puppy #4 over the weekend to a couple in NJ, and she will be flying to her new home on the 24th.

PUPPY UPDATE, October 24, 2007: Today we flew Puppy #4 to her new home in New Jersey. She sill be sorely missed - she's such a sweetheart! Now just two more puppies left, Puppies #6 and #7.

PUPPY UPDATE, November 2, 2007: So far haven't gotten updated pics taken of the pups. Hopefully will get some taken over the weekend. Still just two pups to go, Puppies #6 and #7. Puppy #6's body structuring more closely resembles that of a chow. He is a very pretty puppy and already a very big boy. Due to his current weight of 25+ lbs., the cost to ship him to a new buyer would likely be somewhat more than the standard rate. Puppy #7 has very fine bone structuring, more similar to that of a sheltie. He currently weighs around 15 lbs. Puppy #6 has some of the chow attitude - he can be a loving sweetheart, but at times he acts like people are beneath him! He would likely benefit from puppy classes. Puppy #7 is a bit shy initially, but warms up quickly to be a very loving and cuddly boy. Both are very well bahaved inside the house. They tend to be calm when inside, but can be so full of energy and incredibly playful while outside. They are so much fun to watch play.

PUPPY UPDATE, November 6, 2007: I finally got some new pics of the pups taken today. Puppy #7 is such a model! He always poses beautifully for pics. Puppy #6 was too busy barking at the camera! He is quite hard to get a good shot of. By the way, my daughter says both these pups are incredibly friendly and loving with her....hmmm....they seem to be more fond of her than of me! Now, that's a first..... But not all bad. For me, these two always greet me at the food dish with their mom, but they like to play a game of chase when it comes to being held! I do think, though, that different pups' personalities affect their interacting differently with different people.

PUPPY UPDATE, November 14, 2007: Puppy #7 is now sold to a family in Des Moines. Just one puppy left now, Puppy #6. Hope to get new pics of the pups in the site tomorrow.

PUPPY UPDATE, November 14, 2007: Puppy #6, too, is now sold, to a repeat buyer from Florida (also purchased Puppy #2 from Litter #2). Due to various personal reasons, she is having him shipped to her in January '08. All pups from this litter are now sold.
